Great photo of the Swain Actros, I seem to recall this was a demonstrator. Were Haselden-Nuttall under Swains control when they got their Mercs? I wonder how the drivers took to them, as Swains were buying second hand Roadtrains from the Post Office at the time. Interesting to see there are no spoilers on it, despite the equipment list. Was it supplied to a price?
They obviously weren’t over impressed with it as they never had very many more!..
Mark, they now have the opportunity to have another look at Mercedes.I note their company acquisition has them in their fleet! Saw one in London last week

Not a majorly old photo but this was taken in Coulling Bros’ yard not long before their demise… They were practically entirely DAFs at this point, save for one Merc LK rigid.

Which motors are either of you driving (I’ve prpbably got photos of them too)? They used to have several vehicles attending Truckfest events but you’re not allowed to clean your own lorries properly any more which seems very strange to me.

I drive merc actros and dad drives a DAF. I keep my unit clean because I don’t like driving around in a dirty lorry. Firmin’s are a very good company to work for, they put me through my class 1, I haven’t a bad word to say for them.

That’s good to hear Joe, especially as so many drivers continually moan about their employers and their job! I think id probably go for the Mercedes myself but I guess its all down to personal preference. Are you on the containers or general haulage, or do you all do a bit of both?
