Hi Lawrence I was sorry to here about your Dad he was a good mate,No one told me about him so I missed saying goodbye but remember him ,Ray(Fatty) and Mick(Split-pin)They were a big part of my life. Please send my best regards to your Mum and Sister and when you see them the rest of your Dads Brothers, I could tell you some tales from before the start of Barrio as you say Good crack Flocko
Thanks Flocko Iāll pass on your regards to mum and my sister I donāt see much of my uncles to tell the truth only see trev in the docks not seen jeffy in years . Itās a shame a lot of the guys died far to young my dad was only 57 but I think the lifestyle didnāt help all the hours working and the smoking didnāt help them .
Hi Lawrence. I had a beer recently with Splits son Michael. I gave him a photo I had of Split & Ray in the yard. As Iāve told you before I used to get on well with Malc and still see Kenny quite regularly. I only ever did one trip to Spain for Barrioās (Jan 90) and that was with Alan Pout and a bloke called Olly (Pete Oliver )who I think was working for Jimmy Wells. I was offered a job at Barrioās but turned it down and went driving a tipper for a bloke called Roger Earl instead. Far less stressfulā¦
I heared that Derek Lynch had kept, and was running two of his motors. Donāt know how true this is, but I did see one of his FH in the Shell garage on Bluebell Hill a couple of weeks ago, which made me smile.

John did you know Vernon Oliver (V J Oliver Transport in the 80/90ās) committed suicide in May, apparently hung himself⦠donāt know the reasons? ā ā ā ā
Nice Picture Mark I was looking for one of his Motors⦠My Lorries used to run with Vernons on the Ferryline work to & fro Germany, I only found out about his death a few days ago, as Iām retired now Iām not in the Know so much anymore. I liked Vernon he was very āHypoactiveā had his faults, but who aint !! ā ā ā ā Matthew (R J Matthew Transport Ltd)
I had an ex Oliver 143-470, small wonder i he got shot of it as it was an absolute dog of a lorry, not that he hadnāt looked after it, it was in good nick, but very u reliable. IIRC it was G123 SKN.

Yep, it was nice having cruise control and it was good on diesel, mostly because it was forever being dragged backwards into a Scania dealers
Guy from aberdeen converted his back to a manual pump (which scania said couldnt be done) which solved the problem of it being a plug but created another problem of it liking to melt manifolds
