driverjoe:
Does anyone have pictures of Coulling Brothers, Mercedes Benz Powerliners or Actros, they used to get all their lorries from Sparshatts in Sittingbourne Kent. My dad and myself worked for Coulling Brothers i remember them running curtainsiders and flatbeds, my dad worked for them 14 years and i worked for them for 1 year before they shut down.
i found these pictures earlier the 7.5t Merc with Coulling Brothers on it and the 7.5t Daf with silver curtains (Brian Yeardleys when they was based at lenham) where mine, the transcotti belonged to owner driver called Lou Thurgood, the Lenham Storage and Coulling Brothers lorries where my dads and the breakdown was my grandads when he was a fitter at Lenham Storage. hope the pictures stir a few memories.
Driver Joe what was your Dads name I worked for Herbie Coulling from 1968 till 1980.
Heres an old Coulling motor.

Any more H E Woodcock ā ā ?
I canāt swear to it, but I reckon there are a couple of H E Woodcockās Mandators featured in this clip. What makes me wonder though is because they have the later livery with the white band which I thought came in after the AECs had gone.
Do you remember Vic Goodsell by any chance? he was one of the fitters.

CAV551, just watched your Pathe filmā¦as we are on Kent Transportā¦I spot an EH NICHOLLS Big J Guy I think!?
It follows the Foreign registered F88 drawbar.
Am I right ?
Hello Ringrose,
Yes I think you are right about Nichollsā Guy. Thereās an Alan Firmin AEC Mercury doing a frozen chicken run, what I think may be Woodcockās LV ERF, possibly a Hammondās Atkinson and I think I caught a glimpse of T K Bonner as well.
An Aec Mandator artic of H E Woodcock & son of Headcorn registration NKE 468M.
My dadās name is Kevin Davis, he also used to drive for Lenham Storage, he remembers when Coullingās brought Loaders Transport from Lenham

Harrier Express have been quoted on here from time to timeā¦so hereās one of their Volvos
I did about 3 months for harrier many moons ago taking double glazing windows to a office that was Being built in London , he was running 113 scanias which you couldnāt fault .
Simon was a blinding bloke to work for ,
Just a shame that he didnāt pay enough for me at the time .

Simon was/is the best boss I ever had in haulage
There are times when you have to weigh quality of life against quantity of life. Harrier always paid an acceptable, if not brilliant wage. Iād sooner work for a bloke who cares than earn loads of dosh for a bloke who doesnāt. Robert

Weāll said Robert, itās not always about the money, Iāve worked for couple of good ones over the years and they stick in my mind but Iāve forgot what they paid
One of his ex drivers lent me a load of old photographs recently. I looked at them and gave them back a week or so later. Wish Iād scanned them into the computer and saved them now!..he said Simon was a decent bloke to work for.
If I could have done tramping for him then I would have stayed , at the time he only had a couple of motors tramping , one on fridges running Belgium and the other pulling trailers out of ramsgate ,
running my car from ramsgate to faversham and back everyday killed the money .

That does make a difference. I lived within walking distance of their yard when I worked for Harrier. Robert
