@mikethebike Mike, don’t put any weight on Carryfast’s waffle. He’s a car driver who tried and failed at being a truck driver, last century. His total failure in our industry has not stopped him claiming expert status and spewing forth his verbal diarrhoea.
Robroy hit the nail squarely on the head. One bad action is more noticed than a hundred ordinary actions, regardless of the action.
Not meaning to teach you how to (create a vacuum with your lips) ■■■■ eggs, but be aware of truck blind spots and always ensure you’re visible to truck drivers.
I’m a motorcyclist myself so I know you have developed a sixth sense and can read the “body language” of other motorists, you wouldn’t have survived thus far, if you hadn’t.
Effectively the lorry driver knows you are a vulnerable road user and thinks that getting close will force your hand to speed up. It is done in the full knowledge that getting close is making you uncomfortable. The expectation is of course of you speeding up to more like 55mph or something.
I would personally just learn to recognise where the speed cameras are and keep up with the traffic.
Hey Star
thanks for the reply
Yes mate i understand and ive lots of experience of dealing with people like him they are all over facebook trying to validate their miserable and vaccuous lives . . . Generally the advice and the responses here have been fantastic and its just sad that people like him have to occupy a forum that tries to cater for professional people . . . im guerssing he is well known to all of you you would think by now he would’ve gotten the message but sometimes you just cant fix stupid
be safe out there there lots of “failed” car drivers
yes i suspect your right but with me they dont get away with it mate i just report them . the camera never lies i do not go out of my way to look for “conflict” but i abhor dangerous driving by individuals who think they can bully other road users . .
Just looked at some of the latest replies. Seems the more sensible among you have gotten yourselves a couple of clowns who quite frankly brighten up the serious aspect of adult conversations with the puerile and childish replies but then i guess its social media isnt it? and here i am thinking facebook was the mecca for keyboard warriors . . . . keep em coming boys its hilarious
maybe you and carryfast should go get a room together so you can validate each others miserable lives?
Can’t see the point of an individual on here asking about why some lorry drivers do this and that. Why do people do what they do? Who knows. As a trucker, if I went on a biker’s forum asking why bikers do this and that I’d no doubt be met with a blanket response defending biker’s skills and possibly slagging off truck drivers, but guess what a biker comes on a truckers forum and straight away truckers slagging off truckers.
Trucks are the least of my concerns whilst driving.
Grow up I’d bet a pound to dollar you sit in the middle lane at under 50mph instead of allowing vehicles to use the overtaking lanes.
We keep left at every opportunity (or rather most of us) unlike the myriad of people who think that driving in any lane is perfectly fine as they believe they are in the right be doing less than the speed limit and impending traffic.
Maybe get your Bike / Car speedometer calibrated ? as you may only be doing 45 MPH in a 50 limit lol
We’re obviously supposed to be taking for granted the fact that the OP is always minding his own business at less than the speed limit in lane 1 and being tailgated by numerous truck drivers who prefer the idea of losing their licence or a jail sentence than just safely overtaking him.
Why would any driver with any sense want to put themselves in the frame of a charge of causing death by dangerous driving instead of just maintaining seperation distance and then making a safe overtake ?.
carryfast, the key phrase in your post is “with any sense”.
I don’t take anything for granted when I see people dawdling and driving in any lane they feel like under the speed limit.
The key phrase is ‘why would’ as in the OP’s narrative seems off in the extreme.
Or anyone who states that if he pulls out, or in, on quicker moving traffic than him, it’s the responsibility of that traffic to anchor up or face the wrath of his tail gating nick camera.
For the very same reasons bikers act dangerously around large vehicles in urban driving, feel the need to weave in and out of gaps in between vehicles in heavy traffic in city driving where you barely have enough room between the vehicles you’re trying to squeeze between to get your handlebars through, putting yourself in our blind spots then wondering why you get run over.
well i get what your trying to say but . . . . as was pointed out to me here in this topic theres good and bad in every group
Im guessing your actually referring to the latest menace on the roads the scooter delivery mob?
These are not Bikers they are illegals chasing paltry sums of money they have no sense no etiquette and no fear
Personally speaking my overtakes are planned and executed with precision and ive never put myself in a spot with a lorry driver

I’m lacking in sympathy, it’s in the US obviously, but if it that were in the UK it would be a basic failure to obey Highway code rule 126
Typical Harley rider, all the gear, no idea! If he’d used the front brake instead of the back one, he wouldn’t have hit the car.
And he hasn’t helped himself to concentrate on the road by having his phone strapped in his field of vision. If riding a bike isn’t a sufficiently immersive experience to warrant all of his attention, he should trade the bike in for a Toyota Prius
