I suppose the pay relates to the OP’s screen name, Busy fool.

Sorry but that pay rate is shockingly low and to be quite honest a disgrace. We pay the office cleaner more per hour.

Hi
When I posted this on here I realy did not expect so much negativity for all you sarcastic people with your crap comments just may be there are people out there that are not as fortunate as yourselfs as you are on such great wages. just wondering how much the wages were for a laugh nice one chap I look forward to seeing the rest of your posts see if your always a prick
Moderators you can remove post as I have tried myself but I’m on my phone trying to delete but can’t seem too
Shame so much negativity I only advertised for a driver

Assuming you take 45 mins break off, your pay is £8.17 per hour. Minimum wage is £7.50…and yes I’m ALWAYS a prick. But not as bad as one who thinks drivers are worth taking the ■■■■ out of

I’m my non driving job I earn just north of minimum wage. Once I’ve got my licence I’d happily work for £8.17 an hour. As a newbie I can’t expect or demand top whack. And tbh £8.17 would still see me with a significant pay increase.

It’s horses for courses. Just cuz it ain’t right for you don’t mean it’s not right for everyone.

£8.17 (or thereabouts ) is crap for Avonmouth/Bristol.

If you are happy to work for £8.17 an hour for your first Class 1 gig mate, then you are similar to the other chap. A fool.

My first Class 1 was Canute and paid just under a tenner. Keep driving the wages down mate, well done :unamused:

Doesnt tempt me, but £480 for 55hours is £8.72 per hour isnt it?
Anyway, someone on the famous minimum wage would get £412 if on a flat rate, or £468 if on time n half after 40 for 55hours.
How much for a C+E licence? £2500■■
So with £70 a week increase itll take about 36weeks to break even. If you give up a job on min wage with time n alf over 40 then itll take a bit over 200 weeks or about 4 years to break even wouldnt it? I can see driving trucks (even old Premiums) is preferable to some crappy jobs out there, but its not a happy comment on the current state of UK haulage is it? Each to their own etc, but I would not advise anyone to enter this industry now.

True

There are at least 3 firms in the Avonmouth area that take on inexperienced or casual drivers and pay more than that.

If I was going straight into first class with no experience I’d definitely consider it. Not so much if I’d got some class 2 work under my belt.

But I don’t see it as driving the wages down. I as a new person with less to no experience can’t expect the same wage as someone with years or experience.

Obviously I’m gonna try n get the best pay I can but I’ll consider anything that pays more than I currently make and gets my foot in the door.

Some might say you already are a first class mate…

Crap !! It’s not that good .

Just think… If there was an actual firm offering a top dollar job to the open market, then there would be thousands of applicants of which said firm can take their pick, and probably end up with a very premium driver indeed - purely because they put the ad that included the meaty rate out to a wider audience.

Then there’s the “usual” thing that happens, which is “pay is all hush-hush secret”, which turns out to be because it’s not only uncompetetive for the area, but even uncompetetive for the wider country too.

C’mon Scots - Are even YOU guys north of the border going to leap out of bed for less than nine squids per hour?

… On the other hand, let’s not see any more adverts like this one suggesting that there are £38k stobart jobs to be had in the South of England. I got taken in enough by this ad to apply, I must admit.

Withdrew once I found out that mid-week night rate was £8.10ph though. At least I didn’t waste a day doing some unpaid assessment. :stuck_out_tongue:

It puzzles me why they think it’s acceptable to nick £1-2k off your money for the first 12 months…

One man band (owner driver) or Corporation companies

I always find that less paying jobs, you are left alone to get on with it and treated like an adult,
and you have no problems with your wages, and told the truth about the job description, take it or leave it.

Yet with a bit higher paying jobs with brand new or old trucks, they are constantly on the telephone,
checking the truck for damage, treat you like its your very first time ever you have driven a truck, and when you tell them about a issue’s, every word out of your mouth is a lie or bull sh*t or your speaking in a foreign language, problems with your wages, cant get days of when you ask with a few months in advance, keep your hours down until Thursday, and only get one or two nights out a week and you being employed as a tramper, plus to many company rules and h&s which keeps changing on a daily bases and forms to fill in to cover there backs. and you should be very grateful and proud that you work for us.

And the lies and promise they tell you on the Interview to take the job on and you thinking at last a decent job, good pay, new truck, I will stay here until I retire, then your first week WTF you lying F**KER and that the last you see of him, and when you tell the other drivers there what was said on the interview they look puzzled at you with a smile and say that’s not us and we don’t recognise that job description and he doesn’t real know what we do, brilliant what a great start.

so Good pay £600.00 (with weekend & bank hol’s work) v’s. Low pay £500.00 (no weekends or bank hol’s work)

and when you have worked out the pay and job satisfaction are you better of for an extra £20 or £30,
me personally no not really, you decide ? ? ?

Happy Days.

I’m so green with envy, that I’m almost having trouble enjoying my four days off every week.

Almost… :grimacing:
