As this is a national forum I would emphasise that Coatbridge and sourrounding area is very much post industrial .Housing costs are fairly low in that sort of place. If you cycle to the pub you walk home.

You mean it’s a [zb] hole?

What do you do with the bike ?

Judging by the standard of most of Curries drivers that use the same yard as us , its way too much money to pay them.

In contrast Farmfoods ■■■■■■■■■■■ are currently advertising £12.69ph although that kind of store delivery work takes a special kind of person lol.

This is what im prattling on about in another post. The companys that pay good money and T&C’s are about its just that you have to do a bit of graft to get that money.
Too many of todays drivers just want to sit on their fat arses, trundle down the motorway and let somebody else unload and yet they want megabucks for doing it!!

You have hit nail fully on the head “mygyorkie” , well said .

Might be earning the 12.69 but chances are the money you earn will be spent on Chiropractic clinic later on down the line as you are expected to be happy use a broken pump truck carrying two tonnes of pop and you have to do it within a time limit or it’s a disciplinary

Currie were the big local company when I was growing up…in the late 80s they paid 35pound a shift casual in hand Dumfries -hollies -Dumfries ,sometimes asked you to run up to ayr to pick an loaded after picking an empty at dfs all for the same money. Then they went "legal"and taxed the 35a shift :smiling_imp:

Brilliant, made me laugh.

Post industrial I’m guessing means nothing at all left rather than some new economic activity in Coatbridge today.

Post industrial means that even the charity shops are feeling the pinch,I.E closing down. You wont find a Starbucks or Costa either. The area used to be part of the coalfield and the steelmills were big employers. Its now home to Summerlee industrial museum and thats about it.

Nice to see Buckie is still selling well. Had to tip a tanker into their ‘factory’ several years ago. Best ‘work’s canteen’ I’ve ever been in. Happy bunch of people it seemed to me. Heard lots of stories about the ‘Boss’ but didn’t meet him myself, not yet anyway.

Edit. Think it was a tip and load there. French red wine in, finished product out, to go for bottling in East London.
