Who’s seen one of these close up ■■? they seem rather tall… when you’re stood beside it the footwell is eyeball height… I wouldn’t like to fall out of one. Next thing is, you don’t have a key… its a bleeding remote control the size of a mobile phone. I haven’t driven one yet. Who has ■■? Please comment.

The top of the range Merc is the GIGA and is 4 metres tall to aid air flow I suppose and my buddy has just taken a demo to Italy and back. The tale I shall compile for the Biglorryblog but a taster is the braking is dross almost dangerous, not very good on fuel and it has been such a startling demo vehicle he is now going to buy…a VOLVO.
Well looking at the pic the roof line is at the same level as the trailer it is pulling which is the same height as my fridge which is exactly 4 metres now I can’t say I have ever seen a unit that height before but I stand to be corrected and this new Actros comes in various heights and standing in front of the Giga last night it did seem a long way up.
Seen a couple on the motorway and they don’t look much taller than the usual suspects. The 4.0m high wiill be the gigaspace model and I imagine most of the extra height will be made above the windscreen, not at the floor.

What do you need the floor to be any higher for?
Mega’s already have a perfectly flat floor, which means lifting all your gear above your head to put it in the truck
Thats what I mean, him going on about the floor being tall in the opening post, I doubt very much Merc will have added any height lower than the windscreen, as it’d actually loose cab space and reduce visibility directly in front of the truck
EDIT: And I bet a Magnum still has a higher floor height anyway.
The Giga comes with a fitted Stana chairlift must admit cab interior was tidy but nothing special and no more space than my Maggie but more storage space certainly, expect as with most units some will love it others won’t.

It must be quite tall because a company near me does a lot of work on all makes of commercials and new stuff is normally brought in on transporter ( orange foreign low hight trucks can’t think of the name ) but they can’t carry the new tall actros because there over hight on the trailer don’t have a problem with any others
