I am the one that moves forward then pays to let the other truck waiting behind fill up. Its common sense to me and if the truck in front pulls forward than i thank him for doing so

If people knew the football team I support I suspect this guy at the pump wouldn’t of moaned
How long did you take to pay, were you looking at truck and driver, before you came out for a wee, I have stood behind a few who were putting a break in.
thats the problem “the sneaky break” too many seem to make it last16 minutes sod off the pumps…
Never had a break on pumps and never will, don’t see the point I like to relax on my breaks. You can’t relax being stuck in a queue at checkout or in a noisy shop. Plus i would hate being held up like any guy might be behind. I’m a park up somewhere quite and stick break on kinda guy
No the guy who mouthed off came in shop just as I opened toilet door.
Filled up £120
I had taken a P washed hands in less then 1min maybe 1:10 and went to pay no one in front of me and I didn’t even buy anything went straight out and got in truck.
last wednesday morning at the golden fleece i pulled in to top up fridge with fuel.the driver in front filled his lorry, he kept to and from me parked behide him. he finish fueling, looked at his watch so i knew what was happening, this ■■■■ is taking a 15min i said. he took empty bottles from the cab and went over to the tap to fill them looking at his watch again. right says i enought is enough.so i went over to him and i asked him nicey if he was trying to get a 15min break. he said yes drive i can move in 3-4 mins. ok i said that will gave u enough time to go in and buy me a coffee with 2 sugars and a small milk if not maybe i should call in to todhill weight works unit and tell mr vosa how u take breaks. he bought me the coffee and thanked me 4 waiting and i thank him for the coffee. no harm done and another friend made. i like to think i handle this the right way. what do yous think■■?

I like your style milkchurns
I’m the same as keebs, prefer to take my breaks elsewhere. Milkchurns I can see you are going to drink a lot of free coffee, do a lot of grassing or take a lot of verbal abuse as there is no way you will stop drivers taking breaks on pumps, sad as it is.
It’s got nothing to do with the size of your lorry, i’m sorry to tell you but he was right.
Pumps are for fuelling up, nothing else. I will usually even move forward before paying, if there is room to do so, even if nobody behind.
There aren’t enough pumps for everybody to take a break, go for a ■■■■, buy a coffee etc.
If you can hold your bladder for 4h30m, you can hold it for another 5 while you fill up, pay, and MOVE, even just move forward a bit so the guy behind can get on, then do whatever it is you need to do.
It’s got nothing to do with being patient, it’s just rude. The attitude of most seems to be, i’m alright Jack.
You can’t change anyone else (so barking at somebody is usually a waste of time), but if you have a conscience, you can change yourself.
[EDIT] You can also look at it another way, had you have moved before going to the toilet, then this guy would have had nothing to say. You would have made no impact on his day, he would probably not have even noticed you. Thus wouldn’t have spoken to you, and you wouldn’t have had another thought about him either, or thought about it after, or felt the need to post about it. Peace and serenity all round.
I much prefer a day without these sort of occurrences, which is probably why I always move off the pumps
I went to fill with fuel today - you won’t believe this but this little rigid on the pump fills up and them disappears off into the shop with out moving forward to let me into the pump . honestly what is the world coming to . i got so fed up I went back to the yard and cleared out the lorry and handed my notice in . I can’t do this job anymore - I needed that time to think about the children
If some body had gobbed at me like that at the Pump. i would have said Sorry Fella…Oooops i think i left my fuel card in the station…
n took another 15 mins lookin for it …Problem Drive Here,s a Tissue. there,s allways see ya round the corner fella.
newmercman:
Proper fuel island etiquette is this…Pull onto pump, enter shop, hand over card, get the ok to fuel, fill tanks, pull forward to allow the next person on the pumps, go into shop, go to toilet/get a copy of the Sport/mars bar/bag of crisps/packet of ■■■■ etc, complete transaction, return to lorry and go
If you’re not doing this, yes, you’re a prick, no matter the size of your vehicle
^^^^ this is exactly how it should be done no ifs or buts.
Like I have said I honestly since I started trucking have never once had anybody move forward for me on a pump. So I always believed this was normal, and by some of the comments on this I’m not the only one
I suggest the drivers that like to pull forward after filling up don’t use Bradbury services, just off the a1m near sedgefield, if you do you will be sat across the a689. It’s cheaper in the shop and you get free coffee when you fill up. Spent plenty time there waiting for drivers to fill up, urinate, buy stuff, chat to people etc. not worth getting irate over.
Maybe if people planned their hours a little better they would not count on getting onto the pumps as if it’s a pitstop. You should know the rule, if you are in a rush they are always full, if you have plenty time they are empty.
