With the Irish, there is, or used to be, a lot more to it. They were paid very well a lot of the time, and the extra was worth doing to the driver. And I used to work for some of the biggest cowboys in the UK where it was expected but not rewarded.
Over here I often run my hours to the maximum. It largely depends on the job I am doing. Tomorrow will be a 13 hour drive because my tip is 10am central on Weds. If I wanted to do 10 hours then I would have to leave today and I don’t want to.
It is sad to think that people have to stoop so low in their desperate little posts as this idiot does. But there is comic relief attached to rooooooobbbbiiieebbiiiee in a way. You can just tell that the issues are so real to him…
Clearly, he has our interests at heart… My God, I think he loves us…
I cut my teeth in Europe driving for an Irish company and although the speed and excessive hours were expected we were rewarded very well with good money and good equipment, wouldn’t want to do it again but it was good at the time

I did my bit for a couple of Irish firms, got treated very well by both, hard work for sure, but a ■■■■ good education and well paid to boot, as you say Dave, it was fun at the time, but I had a bit more energy back then, don’t think I could handle it now, I like my lunchtime lie-ins too much
robbbie:
Ballaland and several others charged over illegal practices.
That’s very interesting Robbie, do you have a link to a credible report on that case please?
robbbie:
In their defence the Irish showed the court Canadian drivers rules and regulations where it shows drivers driving legally 14 hours a day and 84 hours a week.
Who are “the Irish” and which court dealt with the case please?
Who put forward that argument please?
robbbie:
The court found that because a country like Canada has what is essentially draconian ,backward and uncivilised regulations does not in way impinge upon the more advanced countries of the world that we have here in Europe.
I very much doubt that a court would make such a comment about another country, so a link would be great please.
As an Irish man I know the companies that have you running all over the place(bending the rules) there mainly from Wexford&Tipperary,Yet you wont find an Irishman working for them as they pay ■■■■■ and treat you the same so they source their drivers from the eastern european countries.
There are a number of Irish companies that treat their drivers well have good plant and run legal, Like any where you go there will always be someone breaking the rules or treating drivers like ■■■■■ wether it be in Ireland&UK or Canada as some of the lads working there have pointed out when asked about the likes of BFS etc.
Robbbbiee as Diesel Dave has asked you already can you direct me also to a credable link regarding that story(fairy tale) considering Ireland like the UK is in the EU we go by the rules laid down by them.
