Surely you mean the reindeers

Life’s a set of balancing acts, the older generations/mindsets came from different times themselves as did their forebears, you don’t have to go back far to find typically men especially didn’t live very far into their 60’s, hence the retirement age of 65 for men once the state pension became a thing.
The lives of women little short of a living hell if born without the silver spoon.
Not that long ago in lifespan terms that only men who were landowners could vote, it wasn’t just women denied the vote, not as voting these days changes a bloody thing but that’s a discussion for another way.
We’re all different, you can’t blame or ridicule people for becoming what their set of circumstances naturally led them to, whilst its good to keep a healthy sense of humour i think its more important to never lose perspective of who you are and to be able to laugh at yourself and your own many faults and failings, helps keep your feet on the ground, none of us are perfect even if some (well represented in celebrity/elite/political/media circles) have reached the point of actually believing their own propaganda and in their own omnipotence, fantastically clever or cunning or for sale leading to wealth and power but lacking the wit to look at themselves.
At the other end of the scale from the bourgeois are generations of working people, (some of whom for some reason revere the select few, baffling), who from leaving school at surprisingly tender years have known nothing but hard bloody work and struggling to keep the roof over their heads and feed the families they in turn struggled to raise, little wonder some don’t stroll around with a grin from ear to ear when the parts of their worn out bodies that don’t hurt is a shorter list than the parts that give them hell.
For most of us you can only play with the set of cards that you have, that will apply a hundred years from now just as it applied to those living 100 years ago.

Hell no! There were always people who collected it to put on their rhubarb. I preferred custard myself but there’s no accounting for taste.
In My day…
We worried about heavy metal contamination likely turning up in the water supply…
Looks like I’ve got that one wrong folks - at least where it is actually turning up now…

Did ‘‘we’’?
Not how I remember it.
I worried about if I was going to have enough cash left to afford to go out at the weekend,.whether my car was going to breakdown again,.if Newcastle were going to win at the weekend, and if I was going to get laid on a Saturday night after a few pints on a night in the club we all went to.
Hang on a minute…
Just let me check…
Nah only heavy metal in my life at that time was Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath.
We’ve obviously led very different lives when we were young Winseer mate.
