Er it was shown and reported that they would be £10 a week better off in France … the real reason I think you’ll find is the documentation is easier and they speak English better than French … as once they have their papers from the UK they can freely move around Europe
You may be surprised to know that French is a more common native tongue in Africa than English, although there are variations in the tongue from country to country, down to village to village.

I wouldn’t want anyone to die needlessly, but generally I have little sympathy for them. I’ve always worked and paid my taxes, why should someone just walk in and be given free healthcare, housing, translation services, benefits etc for free■■?
These people don’t aim for Italy or Spain, Australia or any of the Nordic countries, they see the UK as an easy option and I’m sick if it. Hence all the illegals camped out near Calais waiting to get in.
I’m not a xenophobe, I’ve traveled a lot and appreciate other cultures and am friends with people from across the world. People who contribute to our country…

^ This.To put it simply the government wants them to come here to add to the pool of cheap labour.Then pretends that it doesn’t so as to not lose too many votes.

Turns out not to be a container as we know it but an ordinary box trailer shipped in from Zeebrugge, exactly the same problem the drivers at Calais are having, only these are unaccompanied.

It amazes me how these people who have nothing can lay their hands on a couple of £1000 to get them over here in the first place.I’m the only earner in my house as we have 2 small children, I can’t lay my hands on a few grand how can they do it?
Do they seriously believe this is the land of Milk and Honey? Okay my standard of living is pretty good but I’ve had to invest £1000’s into getting the qualifications to drive a waggon and I put in a lot more hours than your 9-5 would. Do they think it’s just all given to you?

They do aim for Oz. The difference is that we get them by leaky boat. They come from all over the place, but make sure they end up here cos they know they’ll get well looked after.
The present government is trying, with some success to stop them, but then you have the do gooders jumping up and down. Can’t win.

part of the problem is that anyone in the present government is unlikely to have them move in next door to them,
