I started at arla aylesbury today

the maoster:
‘…What are tets…?’

Glaswegian colloquial for breasts?

Edited to add that in polite company, ‘churruns’ might be more acceptable: Strange how such delightful accessories remain known via their secondary purpose.

Or Norks if you’re from Lancashire.

As of today 16/05/2014 Arla Aylesbury will no-longer use any agency driver’s. :bulb:
ps Curry’s & PC World are now merging

Cragratt68:
As of … 16/05/2014 Arla Aylesbury will no-longer use any agency driver’s…’

That suggests that the dismally ungenerous PCL have had their contract torn-up for (the hardly surprising) non-delivery of support - in which case any ideas if:

1 Arla are advertising?

2 Conditions are better than through the PCL agency? ie, is it better than the unattractive three rest days in 14; £10 p/h Mon-Fri etc & 6-7 multidrops per day along the south coast in an artic from the S. Midlands

3 There is a renewed point-of-contact to enquire?

Cheers

They’re already the same company always have been. I think you mean Curry’s PCWorld and Carphone Warehouse are merging. Although I have no idea what baring it has on this thread.

One of our drivers is leaving today to start at Arla, Aylesbury, next week & (from memory) he told me that the shifts are Sunday to Thursday & (I think) Tuesday to Saturday, with the option to work one of your days off (if hours allow)
I’m sure he said it was around the £30,000 mark (before overtime) with a £5000 accident bonus.
He left a CV with them a few months ago, when he was delivering drainage channels for the new building & they contacted him a few weeks ago, when he was in dispute with our company, so told 'em to stuff it & now he’s even moving to Aylesbury as well.

Sorry, that’s all I know at the moment, I will post more if I see him & get any contact info.

Seen Cliff today & he’s going to be working for G Force Agency, on a 10 week Temp to Perm contract, £30,000 salary, the bonus isn’t £5000 but £3000 per annum, the shifts are Tues-Sat one week & Tues-Sunday the next. They don’t recognise weekends or Bank Holidays, its all the same rate (except for xmas) Obviously one of these modern companies who are above the law.
Apparently they are taking on direct, but I hav’nt got any contact info. He reckons that working for Arla Directly would add a pound an hour more to his pay packet. :imp:

My Law !
Not to work on Sundays or Bank Holidays for normal rate.
Traditionally it was double or treble time, but all the Sunday trading hours & greedy bosses put a stop to all that. !!!

i know what you mean, but treble time generally came from double time for what you worked and cashing in one days holiday.

is the boss still greedy if he pays 1 or 2k pa more than the firm next door for the same hours, but on a time an a half after 8 / saturday, double time on a sunday / bank holidays, type setup?

Maybe not Greed, but I grew up & started work in a time when Sundays & Bank holidays were special. Family days when most people were off & could socialise or just chill out, if you were asked/‘lucky’ enough to be asked to work on one of these ‘Special’ days they payed you a premium, which was nice. But you had a choice of wether to work or not.
Now days, you have to agree to working the ‘Special’ days when & if you get offered a job & a lot of companies don’t even recognise these days, so you are automatically obliged to work them, some pay a premium but some (like shops) don’t.

When I try to get my family together on a weekend or bank holiday, someone is always missing/working, except for maybe Xmas day & Easter Sunday. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week society ■■■■■. We are Slaves to the Rich & it’s too late to do anything about it.

UP THE REVOLUTION WOLFIE !

Hi guys I work at PCL Aylesbury as in I am a driver. Arla and PCL are two seperate companies. As I am sure all of you are aware Arla Aylesbury is a new site (October 2013). As with all new sites there are start up issues, I will say that that is NOTHING to do with PCL.

Please do not confuse Aylesbury PCL with PCL Hatfield. Please do not think because Hatfield is how it is, it is the same at Aylesbury cos it ain’t. PCL Aylesbury are a very good team and working ‘to get to right’. The issues at Aylesbury are teething problems and will I am sure be resolved. The issues at Hatfield go much deeper and may require a different approach.

It has been mentioned about the job and knock thing. That is all too apparent at Hatfield, the way they all rush around… PCL Aylesbury are VERY keen not to get that reputation. The site is clean and modern and the kit is all new and they DO NOT want you to break the law. For me they are big plus points. If you sit down and think about it the salary plus the bonus works out at £12 an hour. Now I dont think that is bad. Thats it ive put my two pennyworth in.

If they don’t want drivers rushing around they should pay by the hour/pay overtime. With all the best intentions I think the reality is that in the world of multidrop if drivers are on a flat day rate, given a run and know they can go home as soon as it’s done, eventually many drivers will find themselves rushing around & getting worked up over delays at stores.
