Yeah, I didn’t think the Maxus was too bad. If you could look past the instrument binnacle in the middle of the dashboard and the body panels made of tin foil I thought it was a reasonably comfortable drive with a decent bit of poke. Convoy was utter crap as someone else has said WTF was that play on the steering wheel about.Off topic but my top pick 3.5T van is still the Renault Master prior to the current new model.
Maxus wouldn’t have been to bad ,like as you say they used thicker gauge metal for the body panels ,look at them and they bent…Idea behind the dh in the centre was to save money on tooling when building LHD models…Heater controls where the only part with a quality feel…a bit more investment on the interior and it wouldhave been a decent van …alas LDV is no more shame really…Who knows what LDV stood for and it wasn’t Leyland Daf Vans .as there was a management buyout and the new coy LDV had nthing to do with DAF
Steering boxes on the convoy was a joke…old old technology
