I failed the hgv medical!?

I just about passed my eyesight test at my medical, the doc said i was border line in one eye, this i know is due to me having conjunctivitis several years ago, the lens that is is pitted so text is blurred, it won’t deteriorate ,my other eye is fine can read bottom line on snellen chart, and can do with damaged eye with glasses, IMO the snellen test isn’t a real test of your eyes as its only text,and smaller that what you would find on the roads as in signs ect,
can you not get a second opinion from another doctor?

I never heard this before either, I wear contacts and never had to take them out for my medical, when you take your practical test they don’t ask you to please can you take your specs off and read that number

Hiya…i think the reason is that if you hit a POT HOLE (god we,ve plenty of them) your contacts can,t fall off/out.where if you use spec,s they could fall off. if your vison is bad you may run into something.

nice idea but the law states u must have 6/9 and 6/12 with the aid of eyesight correction if req,however they must reach min of 3/60 uncorrected, if you wear contacts the medical must be done with your glasses so you can remove them for the uncorrected part, or if you wish take out contacts,but am sure plenty of folk havent had 2 do that in theirs, difference of doctors i supose,but officially,thats how it should be done

I wear contacts but don’t have glasses i know I should but 14years of wearing them I ever have had a pair and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Can’t you just take medical else where ? I went to a mobile doctor to have mine done and was in and out in 10mins

DVLA sent my licence back with a letter stating that i must wear glasses whilst driving…which i never have worn because i feel my eyes are ok…

Don’t come crying when you’re pulled over for a check and done because you’re not wearing them.

you can take your medical anywhere u like providing a registerd doc ministering it,theres nowt 2 stop any 1 saying they dont wear glasses or contacts and do the test wearing contacts and flying through it,some 1 with 20 20 vision wearing contacts isnt aloud an lgv licence if when they remove them cant achive 3/60, i think its crackers myself just quoting the law!
