I want to ask you on this side by “Transport Photo Forum - Some proper Volvos” on page 1 you had sam photos about Frans Maas Great Yarmouth.
This is some text from you forum. The photos are gone.
And that Frans Maas pic,is that an old J.D.Fairweather F88/89 in the background?
Yes that is a Faiweather 88, and i’d say that was taken in their yard at Great Yarmouth, between 90-92ish. The Frans Maas Globetrootter belonged
to “Hutch” aka Russel Sfictos, he was half Scottish half Greek.
About his Globetrotter, it was originaly a standard cab, 6 wheel pusher axle and was i beleave a 330bhp model. It belonged to a chap called Valley Man (never knew his real name) running on Norfolk Line from GY. The Globetrotter was put on by Myhills of Fuolsham, who Hutch bought it from. He ran with it on Frans Maas, though after a while he packed in the owner driver business and worked for Yare Haulage, FM’s own transport company and went on continental work. I dont know what happened to the lorry after that.
It wasn’t Frans Maas’ yard, but next door, was a general yard used by alot of hauliers including Fairweather as you spotted Keith, I have the picture of that truck but at the moment lack a scanner so can’t put it on here. Hutch was a great bloke that is true. I took these pictures when I first met him, i will find the year for you at some point. I was in the yard photographing the trucks and approached him and asked if it was ok to take one of his. We got talking, and he told me if I wanted to see some trucks, go to the seafront at 6pm, the East Coast Truckers Convoy would be passing through, duly did, got some great pictures, was that impressed I joined the club, and have driven in the convoy each year myself. I then ended up working for Frans Maas in Tilbury, and met up with Hutch again, and reintroduced myself. After that i used to bump into him all over Europe, and he
