Almost half the drivers in the 40 to 54 age group, I work in a large R.D.C and the figures represent the people I work with quite well, with the 30-34 group close behind.

I was thinking about this the other night and the reason I came off the road between 1995 and 2007 was because I had a young family and my wife had a full time job which made it near impossible for me to continue, I would argue that the main problem with recruiting younger drivers are the long and un-sociable hours which are not compatible with parents of young children.

I would say to anyone thinking of becoming a driver now could be quite a good time, hard times always present an opportunity to those with the long view.

I retired at 59, ( well to be honest I was made redundant and couldn’t be bothered getting another job…NOT CLAIMING ANY BENEFITS!!!)

Will you get an accurate poll though. If you think about it who is more likely to use this website a young gun or an old duffer who don’t know how to turn a computer on, present company apart of course.

i just think the poll will show a high number of young people when infact if you go into a drivers waiting room it wouldn’t reflect that.

Take it you not been in the “Old timers forum” as plenty in there who still drive & can post on here just as well as the younguns even dow to the pics
