Boom boom
I buy all my car cleaning gear in bulk so really don’t notice the bit I take to use in the truck only buy a tin of polish for the tanks every now and then as you don’t need to use much once you keep on top of it…
To be honest I really can’t understand the “it’s not mine I’m not cleaning it” brigade,if you are allocated a truck to me you have been given something to work with and in many cases live in so a little effort don’t take much…
When i had the use of the same unit all the time i kept it lovely ,on the verge of ocd, there was nothing worse than a stranger waiting to take it out when i got back on a friday and waiting all weekend to see what state it was in monday,or even worse it not being in the yard monday ,or even worse than that it being used for shunting all weekend when there was a yard full of sheds noooooooooo
Yorkshire Terrier and Seth have the right attitude.
Another way to look at it, your boss has put enough trust in you to allocate you a vehicle costing not far short of £100k tractor unit alone, and, hopefully, give you decent terms and conditions to drive the thing.
The very least you can do is to keep the vehicle in decent condition as you go about your work, bit of pride you know, may seem a bit silly and old fashioned these days but none the worse for that, driven and kept well the vehicle keeps its value as well as being a good advert for the company, it all adds up and a healthy profitable company is more likely to still be paying you well in 2 or 10 or 20 years time.

As I said already if the lorry is in good condition when I get it I will happily keep it that way but when it’s covered in stonechips, rust showing, bumper held together with cable ties etc, I don’t see the point in trying to keep it in show condition, and I think a wash every week or two should suffice wouldn’t you agree?

You cant polish a turd buddy, you would be daft if u tried
When I tramped I usually kept the inside reasonably clean. The outside I’d wash when I got the chance and was in the mood, maybe once a month. Polishing? Not a chance. And as for buying anything other than stuff for my own comfort - a fridge, gas cooker, and so on - forget it.
Well I’ve just spent the whole day cleaning mine nothing doing so I tyre blacked it after washing it polished me tank and it’s still not as clean as I would like it too be oh and I did my trailer too
Ill clean the rubbish out but thats it
Nothing better than a fresh smelling cab IMHO…clean as you would want your home to be…we live in them for the best part of our lives FFS. Paired up with an inconsiderate, lazy arse makes my blood boil. Standards don’t take much.
Soap and water, a pan/brush and other stuff to mint where I live is about all that comes out of my hard earned; anymore the firms pays for after a phone call and due receipts.
I used to be ocd about cab and unit but now its rare we get same unit each night so i sweep it and give it a quick polish inside, last week i got in a cab the smell was rotten coffee up the windows food in the bunk said to our tm i aint driving that tonight certain staff agency and on the books have no respect for em i see it im in that unit for the next 9hrs min i wouldnt sit at home for 9hrs in ■■■■■ as for the bling i think it looks nice on some trucks but i would rather take a fsmily day out somewhere than say buy a kelsa bar. Not knocking those that do gives me something to look at
i do not see the point of blinging a motor up unless you own it,i know drivers who pay for equipment out of their own pockets just to make the bosses truck look good, unreal
