Whilst searching i found a photo of the wrecker after tarmac had finished with it.As you can see it was sold to a company in nottingham.
Does anyone have any info,as i dont even know where this photo came from.
Hiya…this Foden was last seen for sale on E bay and the truck was parked in Shropshire. well if you look on the South Wales thread on page 84
Pete359 has put some photos on at the Malvern Show and auction. below the 2 Volvo photo’s is a green Bedford. At the back of the picture on the
left you can see a small part(very small)of a Foden that looks like the ex Hoveringham Foden Wrekker. if this is the same truck it looks like
someone restored her and thats good news.

Here is a photo of a tanker given to me by a friend,it also is part of the hoveringham group.Perhaps some body out there could
tell me were it was based, and what it carried.
The tankers that Hoveringham operated carried Limestone Filler (usually ground limestone aggregates or removed from the dust extraction system on the crushing plant at Hoveringham quarries such as Asham Wood (Mendips), Dene (Peakdistrict) or Stowfield (Forest of Dean). This product was used as an constiuent when making tarmac, but was also required at the locations that quarried gritstone and granite especially, as their own filler could not be used. Many of these tankers were painted in Derbyshire Stone colours of light blue + white when Tarmac took over. These days, the same material is moved around the country by Francis Flowers from Guerney Slade, Bath, by hauliers such as CRW.

Just a couple for bonkey.
This one brings back memories ! This was the tow truck based at Old Cliffe Hill Quarry, Markfield in Leicestershire, it moved up here from Hoveringham in 1987, and is photographed outside the Cliffe Hill transport workshops, and was in everyday use until about 1990 when the company owned fleet was pensioned off, and all Tarmac lorries became owner drivers. It was then purchased by one of the Cliffe Hill drivers who restored lorries, and for many years later could be seen from the M1 Junc 22 when traveling North (where the last photo was taken) awaiting restoration, it may still be there, as I have not been there for many years (I’ll find out …)

Heres one for for the bus enthusiasts.
In the days before everyone had cars, the buses were used to transport staff into Hoveringham to work, my mum worked on reception in the head office between 1966 and 1968, and was picked up every morning on Hawton Road , Newark , the driver in those days was Jim … and he lived on the Hawtonville Estate, Newark. But it was a newer bus than this one, may be BNN104C which was purchased from Newark Bus Company W.Gash & Sons Ltd.
Hi tarmac, the driver of the bedford bus you refered to was jim clawson. He worked in the fibreglass depot at hoveringham making
the raised cab roofs for the mickey mouse fodens. They also manufactured their own sign boards, and did many cab repairs. If you look
back in this thread their is a photo of the bedford bus.
7 pages of history there, my cousin drove for a firm who bought an ex Hoveringham Albion 6x4. It had the registration starting ORR & I think was a D E or F reg 1966/7 or 8.
Thanks for the photos, keep em coming please.

This is a picture of the first lorry i ever drove on the road with HGVL PLATES,the driver of this lorry was fred smith from lowdham notts.
He came of transport and joined us in mobile plant. He also used to drive the volvo low loader.
Just in case you didn’t see them Nigel, here’s some scans I put on Bubbs’s thread last night. They’re from Commercil Motor sometime in the 70s.
This photo was given to me recently,i believe the driver to be from notts but i wouldnot be certain.perhaps someone out there could
tell me.
