Even more shocking! And moreover, it’s French registrated; what a waste. I must say I do not see the point of giving American looks to European trucks; why not buy a second-hand Kenworth or Peterbilt?

Probably because they are hard work to drive have 12v electrics bone shaking suspension and if I remember rightly no brakes on the front axles and certainly didn’t meet our c&u regs and had to be modified over here don’t know what the French regs were like.
So if you like the yank look without the hassle I guess that’s the best of both worlds or each to his own as they say
I suspect the d series ford would have been for some kind of crane operation, saw the above Leyland kitted out for crane work in the 1990s at a garage somewhere near crooklands iirc.
The Dennis im unsure whether its just a spoiler but it looks like a sleeper pod?

Shocking
This is intriguing? Does it tow a low-loader, so the neck of the trailer fits under the step in the back wall? If so, why is there a drawbar hitch as well? I can’t imagine any trailer fitting under there, without fouling on turns/uneven ground. Maybe it is a fairground job- the word “articulation” sometimes flies over the head of their fabricators. Nice paint job.

Yes, to meet the French law, they indeed need many changes including fitting brakes on the front axle for the older ones, and complete electric rewiring. There are at least two French importators specialised in finding good used trucks in the US, having the shipped to the Continent (some 5000€), and put up to the French specifications.

We’ve certainly had some monstrosity’s on here but I think that takes the biscuit, but having said that there were a lot of creative people about if if some were plain awful
Well as its a council truck I doubt that it was intended to sleep in, at night anyway! More likely it’s to give the driver better vision for something in a high position.
Pete.

Possibly a gritter body? So the driver could see how much load in the back, from the cab??
Just a guess.

I reckon it’s a gun turret for a cab-mounted Gatling. Very useful for strafing cavalier motorists on the then newly-opened stretches of M25.

What can I say? NMP off FB

Dear mother of god, please tell me it’s not been on twice
I think it’s fair to say you’d only ever see that fine example on a travel lodge car park.

Nicer ride though with a long wheelbase.
Saw this beast on fb today.
