The answer is simple !
If you want a good secure life … (well more secure than any other country) stay in England FFS, you get proper holiday time, unemployment pay, sick pay and have reasonable workers rights.
This side of the Atlantic you are lucky if you get a week off after one year, and it hardly ever rises above 2 weeks even after 10 years service, no sick pay, no NHS. Loose your job, loose any healthcare, loose your family because employers don’t care if you never get home.
DON’T even think about comming over here unless you are single and don’t want a life.

Welcome back Pat, I prefer this version of you to the more mellow one we’ve been hearing from.

FFS Pat that’s just not true , I get 12 day paid vacation which working 4on 4off totals 36 days .In Saskatchewan you’ll get 90% of your wage for unemployment , just about free health care , dental work not free but covered by benefit packages , and yes we would get sick pay or workers compensation.
Might not be the case in the land of the stupid but certainly is here ,sorry for a sensible answer FFS
well that dont sound realy enough days off for 4 on 4 off…
I am in an unusual position for the USA, I get a minimum weekly wage which is higher than most guys who cover 3.5k. I am employed under MA rules so when I broke my ribs a few years back I got $800.00 a week tax free, other states are not so fortunate, although I live and work in NY which would have given me $400.00 a week my contract says I was employed by our MA terminal. I see guys loose everything.
You have a good job apart from the vacation … 12 days is not enough, 5 weeks is enough, you can’t incude your 4 days on and 4 days off as a part of your vacation, unless they pay you for the 4 days off also.

Right now I’m taking a shift off which gives me twelve days at home ,and will be doing the same over xmas , and being paid to stay home plus stat holiday on top , I can’t knock that . Only work part time anyhow , or that’s how it feels Rest of my time spent running our business .

Well as Spain is part of the EU and workers there have rights it would seem a better option. It all boils down to what you want and not what others want for you. You seem to have your heart set on leaving the greatest country on Earth so do it the right way.
Good luck to you.

WTF !!! You’ve been living in the land of the stupid far too long if you consider Britain to be the greatest country on earth , at one time maybe , nowadays ? HTH .
Lmfao at Mr Hasler, the greatest country on earth? wtf your a ballon mate if you believe that a grade A balloon…
What is the greatest country on earth though. There’s things I prefere about England than Canada but there’s things I much prefere about Canada though than England.
The USA certainly isn’t and the more I see of it the more I think the the American dream ain’t happening for most people and that there government ■■■■■ more than I previously imagined.
can of worms eh …but i got to say theres ■■■■ all in the uk now for youngsters…
You dont count Kev cos of your postcode
Huge can of worms Chap, lets ya man with the statement of the UK is the greatest country on earth tell us why.
If you aint in London the UK is a shadow of its former self
& I no longer feel privilidged to say I am British, I personally feel the UK is a putz hole & have fled for the second time.
The folks of The UK need to integrate before the place implodes. This is all imo by the way, if the poster can escape fair play to him, I wish him every sucess but its the we are the greatest statement thats got my goat because we arent.
Hi all.I think the days have long gone when any of us can say ‘‘i am proud to be[insert nationality]’’ anymore as almost all the countries in the world are now run by self serving, greedy, corrupt people, full of their own importance and to hell with joe average. And due to policies of fiscal incompetence,P.C.and appeasement to minorities and lobbyists most countries are a shadow of their former selves. So the best we can hope for is to say ''I am proud\happy to be a citizen\or live in[insert country]where i have made my life now and am content.Mike

Britain is !.. having travelled a lot and having lots of friends from other nations all of whom think the USA is the best but have never lived in Britain, I can honestly say that although you all complain about the UK it is the best country on Earth, you say your taxes are high but bnothing like this place where they tax you for ■■■■■■■ LOL.
It begins as soon as you arrive when you go to get a luggage cart at the airport and find a $5.00 charge where every other country is free, I loose my rag every time I try and use one Then there’s the riddiculous health laws where they would rather you die than make a claim against them. You pay double tax on everything and I mean everything.
I used to complain about living there but believe me after 12 years here I would move back if I could afford to and my family would come.
I feel your dillusional about the uk Mr Hasler, it is not great at all & baggage carts arent over important in the grand scheme of things.
Im like You hutpick your right in what you say, corruption & greed has ruined most places & misjudged migration.

While ze Germans will always be Germans.
I want to retire to southern Italy that’s pretty perfect. Great food sit watching the world go by with a coffee or peroni.
Horses for courses Pat but it strikes me that all is not well in the land of the numbnuts .
I can only comment on behalf of my family from our igloo in the frozen wastelands but we’re doing alright . It may not be Utopia but we have a decent lifestyle , in that we never lock our vehicles and have only used the house keys on the day we moved here back in 2006 .
Depends on your expectations I suppose , but there is no way that we could enjoy the life we have become accustomed to if we’d stayed in broken Britain . Aside from a weekend jaunt back to watch the All Blacks , it took me 5 days into a 2 week return visit to re-affirm my /our decision to bail out from that god awful place .
This is the free world by comparison , although some of customers are starting to mention Hi-Vis . Went out for a few beers on the skidoo this afternoon , no fun police to be seen .
