I had a funny one last week, delivering a wood floor to an old farmhouse in Hull; I had to arrange for the customer to meet me at the property for 7 am. I turned up at the bottom of this 4 mile unnamed track at what can only be described as a ruin. There was nothing else in sight for miles so pulled up and was about to get out and knock on something (no door) when I saw this figure in the front yard waving his arms around. He was directing me to reverse through an opening that should of been his gate.
I couldn’t believe it when I caught a good look at him. He was wearing a pair of safety glasses, safety gloves and safety boots, high viz and hard hat. This bloke lived around the back in a caravan. If the customers are wearing this much protection it must be a really dangerous job we do.

Bloody country’s gone mad.I’m just glad I’m well out of it, but I do feel sorry for you guys having to put up with this crap on a daily basis.

I can’t understand how it’s changed so much so that now blind following of rules seems to be more important than commonsense safety.
Forgot my high viz,stopped and received 3 points,community service and criminal record for
elf n safety breach.Joke for now,maybe in the future a reality.One day,have to wear hard hats when driving.
Rules are for the blind obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.Its a bit like sat nav. we should not forget about map reading and using COMMON SENSE.
