HGV Class 2 Price & Questions

Do you use hearing aids or have a cochlear implant that enables you to hear anything mate?
The reason I ask is that I to have a severe hearing problem caused by exposure to loud noise in British Army, and I should wear hearing aids in both ears however I only wear 1 in the better ear.
I was told by DVLA that if I couldn’t hear on a telephone or normal conversation with or without a device then they would revoke my LGV licence. It was all to do with being able to talk to and listen to the emergency services in an emergency situation.
Luckily I can with my hearing aid…
Something maybe to check out before you spend any dough.

Don’t know how the one’s I’ve trained have satisfied that one. Interesting. Pete

  1. Is the applicant profoundly deaf? â– â–
If YES, is the applicant able to communicate
in the event of an emergency by speech
or by using a device, e.g. a textphone?

Easily enough to comply with I would have thought
Besides textphone I wonder what other devices are acceptable …

My uncle is a HGV driver and he’s profoundly deaf just like me, He’s been working HGV for over 25 years (Didn’t even use hearing aid at all)
Only time i need to wear hearing aid working in HGV is when im in big job like ARMY, fire engine or serious job theses job require speaking over phone etc thats reason you need to hear, Not for normal job (My eyes is alot better than yours everyone because i use them more than you all do. (For emergency ive got special number to text emergency if i need it)

My other 2 uncle is HGV Driver as well with over 25 years experience as well and my father work HGV before but hes Bus driver now

I choose to become HGV class 2 because its alot less ■■■■■■■■■■ example working for Bus, I’ll need to listen to people asking for were bus go to, or asking question or anything, Not comfortable with this and not my type thing anyway, I find HGV alot more interesting and suitable for me.

I got approved finance, This finance is not with them, it’s with different company with good APR this will pay direct to them, Once i passed then I’ll start paying them of course

I can use text, SignVideo and or Textphone

SignVideo = Computer or moblie, So if i work in HGV and need to make call, i can take out my moblie and contact to Sign-video anytime 24/7 and give number to operator, operator will speak and sign, that way i can contact anyone, My Access to Work will pay for this service.

I would not go with HGVtraining.co.uk I nearly went with them myself but am glad I did not.

Given you need a training outfit dedicated to getting their students a pass you need someone like Pete, or go out and meet the people near you, don’t rely on websites and telephonists whose job it is to sell you the service.

I wish you the best of luck with it, I don’t see why you shouldn’t do well, provided you get a good, dedicated trainer. Good Luck!
