Help! My company needs good drivers!

We get $30 for a lay over (night out) and we get that if we do 600 miles and get home in a day anyway, which is ver common on a one stop Buffalo or Philly, I can do either in less than 10 hours :exclamation:

When you take into account that although $40k to us is only about 24k in pounds, remember that we don’t live there, we live here and that $40k living here is like 40k in pounds over there, take into account also that when I come over on holidays air tickets on BA or VIrging are sold to us in dollars for the same numerical amout in pounds to any UK resident, so if the ticket is 400 quid to you it is $400 to us, we get dollar for pound on car hire also :exclamation:

Financially I am far better offliving here than back there, there is no way living in the UK as a truck driver I could afford a luxury home with a swimming pool and a jaccuzi, a newish (bought brand new) Ford Focus Street edition anda Jeep Wrangler.

I spend far more time at home here than I ever did there, 10 hours a day minimum, and am as I said home from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.
My last job in the UK I earned just under 40k but was away for weeks at a time :exclamation: and that was an extraordinary job :exclamation:

Do the americans pay night out money or just mileage and tip money?

Around here, most local work is paid hourly. The rates generally fall between $13-$22 with most companies paying $16-$18 an hour. overtime is paid either after 8 hours a day or 40 hours per week. i’ve never heard of a shift differential for drivers and there are a few local jobs that don’t pay by the hour.
