Help appreciated on driving hours

Hello i passed my CAT C recently and is still a little confused with if drivers hours and the amount of hours you can work in a day for e.g if you can work 11 hours in every 24 does your break come off your working time also can you drive for more than 4 1/2 hrs if you stop for deliveries within 6 hours of working e.g loading or unloading in this time…help very greatfull

To get your answer try turning the question to -
How much REST must I have in a 24 hour period?
Reading the regs will answer that for you
EU REGS
NEW VOSA GUIDE GV262-03

can you drive for more than 4 1/2 hrs if you stop for deliveries within 6 hours of working e.g loading or unloading in this time

Time spent unloading and loading does not count towards driving time.

Thanks il have a read through that …so is this correct you have to take a 15min break within 6hrs of working and driving under 4 1/2 hrs driving then take the 30mins later on in your day ? and 45mins break if you do 4 1/2 hrs driving in one go ? but can only be on duty at any one time 11hrs in any 24?

That’s mostly correct apart from this bit and this bit

There is no requirement to take 15 minutes before you reach 4.5 hours driving unless you reach 6 hours work.

Duty time is limited by the amount of rest required in 24-hours, which is 11 hours that can be reduced to 9 hours, 3 times between weekly rest periods. That means you can either have a maximum duty time of 15 hours, 24 hours -9 hours rest, or 13 hours, 24 hours - 11 hours rest.

i was reading some where that ya can normaly be on duty 13hrs a day or is this wrong does it normaly work out about 11hrs in every 24 ? say if your doing a 48 50hr week ?

You can be on duty 15 hrs sometimes. Its depends on who you work for and how hard they push you.

so the least daily rest you can have is 9hrs ?

But only a maximum of three times between weekly rests

WORK time and DUTY/SHIFT time are totally different things because breaks and POA do not count as WORK

A driver could start a shift at 6am and have a total of 4 hours of breaks during that shift and finish at 7pm so that would be a shift of 13 hours but only 9 hours of work

so can you drive more than 4 1/2hrs in 6 hrs of work if theres gaps in your driving ? like not 4 1/2hrs stright driving ?

In 6 hours you could drive for 5¼ hours. For example 4.5 hours driving, 45 minutes break, 45 minutes driving. Or 3 hours driving, 15 minutes break, 1.5 hours driving, 30 minutes break, 45 minutes driving.

thanks for all your help  its been great to learn from people that for done this for a while and we all need 2 learn from some where i guess lol and if i have any more questions am sure people on here will be happy to help thanks for your time and replys
