Yes I agree Dan though that sheet is part of the load and made specifically for that item, W.H.Allen starting using them for their large marine engines as the cost was much less than a massive wooden case and the weight was also much less as a typical wooden box weighed around 3 tons which made a difference to the shipping cost.

The third picture above shows American fighter aircraft arriving in Liverpool via the
Mersey Tunnel during World War 2,having been loaded at Birkenhead after their journey
at sea from America. They would be on their way to U.S.A.A.F. base at Burtonwood.
