Taken from a calendar that was hanging in the office…
I was always quite interested in Titan’s, best known for making Merc’s lorries a bit stronger… However, they’ve also build lorries based upon MAN components and Iveco components, as did they developed their own “heavies”…

Couple of more Mercedes Titans in Saudi Arabia, Patrick.
Cheers mate! Was it your uncle that drove these ones as well?
Cheers Dean! Interesting unit on that last pic (I took the liberty to “restore” it somewhat) and a nice follow up to the next subject I was wanting to bring to the table, because if my eyes don’t deceive me, that trailer looks like a Cometto…
Now, we all know that the Italians are masters in building automotive beauties, but not necessarily reliable and long lasting stuff (anyone remembers the Alfa Sud…).
However, there’s always an exception, and in this case it’s Cometto, they’d began in 1954 and already after one year their first trailer was built and proved to be successfull which lead to more things to come.
In 1974 their first modular trailer was introduced and in '77 the first semi low loader came on the market. But in '81 an ever more important piece of equipment came out of the shed, the first SPMT (Self Propelled Modular Trailer). From their on, they just conquered the world, there isn’t a place so remote or there’s a Cometto to be found.
Faymonville acquired the Cometto group just recently (which is going to be another subject to shed a light on), so all your “shopping” can be done with just the one party, doesn’t matter if you want a “standard” step frame, or a special designed multi axled modular trailer…

Hello Patrick.
Yes he was over there for about a year. Here’s one of him stood in front of one of the Titans.
Regards.

Nice one mate! Forgot to ask but did your uncle prefer to drive the Titan’s or the FTF’s? If it comes to engine noise I would reckon the Titan was first choice no doubt?
