"Heavy Haulage through the years"

DIG:

Spardo:
I love that roomy cabin on the rear of the trailer, Combi, big enough for the whole crew to park up and sleep in, if they had enough curtains that is.

Was that original equipment on the Nicholas? Or was that a Canadian addition to an otherwise open platform?

An iconic picture, nevertheless.

More great photos Cambi and i reckon that reckon that rear dual cab assembly would be full of hydraulic equipment and dual controls so i doubt much room for all the crew David.

Great pic’s Combi89, merci beaucoup

Reckon you’re right DIG, looks like HQ for whoever is in charge of steering the trailer, if they’re lucky, they’ve got a kettle hidden somewhere in there
Those doors though… “■■■■■ doors” ?

It makes you wonder why Leyland / Scammell didn’t build a 4x2 Euro-spec LHD regular unit with the Interstate cab, doesn’t it! Ro

Looks much better as a 6x4 Robert, end off!

A big shout out to Oily, Dean, jshepguis and all the other ususal suspects for keeping this thread…erm… rollin’

Those old M26 Pacifics were some motor Patrick, still one at Cherbourg in the yard opposite where you come off the ferry if you ever have time to
have a look. Originally fitted with a Hall Scott 270 bhp petrol engine.

Cheers Oily, always liked their livery, they had a Renault Major once somewhere in the 90s that looked stunning in the Cadzow colours… well at least in my humble opinion

I saw one “in the flesh” some years ago at the “Locomotion en fete” rally in France, quite a impressive beast indeed! No idea how much money they’d spent on petrol though that day…

We never sail on the Cherbourg ferry unfortunately, although some years ago I brought some plant to a project on the dockside next to the ferry, but I can’t say I cought a glimpse of it Dean… might need to go there on my next holiday then, just need to come up with a good excuse to satisfy the Mrs…

Cracking old footage Mr. Dunbar, ta

These two were just leaving when I pulled in for a cuppa at a polish truckstop last year, I reckon they’re both Oshkosh’s?

Cheers Robert, any idea of where that might be? I can see a Seddon Atkinson workshop or advertisement in the background…?
