What was you speeding in? Your own vehicle or a company vehicle?If your own, and you’ve kept the envelope with the post mark on it, you can appeal under the 14 days to notify rule, but if it was a company vehicle you’re screwed there.
Might be worth admitting it if the above isn’t relevant, you might just get a speed awareness course.

Well I beg to differ, I got tagged in the lorry by one on the A303 and ignored the first one, then they sent another one threatening blah blah blah, I phoned the ‘safety partnership’ who sent it and admitted being the driver of the vehicle.
However when I said that more than two weeks had passed since the offence they had nothing to come back at me with. The law is or was that you must be notified within two weeks. They could not prove that they had, there was a rather long discussion about it.
Maybe they just got the pox of arguing with me, maybe I caught a break, I don’t know, but I do know that I never got three points and I never paid a fine.
They may have reworked the wording, but at the time there wasn’t anything in the law to say that as long as they sent it you must have got it or I would have been [zb]ed.

I’d say you just caught a break. Its definate what i said, i won’t bore you with the details of how i know for certain but i’ve been through a good bit of it in practice discovering all about it

I think your right Mick. It may be they have to lay the information before the courts within 6 months. In the case of a roadside stop you’ll have been informed of an intent to prosecute, in the case of a remote “detection”, i.e camera they have 14 days to notify you of this intent to prosecute.
There is a statute of limitations of sorts, for NIPs it’s two weeks, so it must be six months from a roadside offence.
It is a bit of a liberty that in the case of postal notification they don’t use registered post as proof that they did indeed send it out prior to the two week limit. Surely even the law are not above the law

There is some crap on here on this subject, and I did get away with two speeding NIP, Registered keeper, has to get NIP within 14 days give or take 2, and you as the driver has to be notified within 6 months, if it’s over either of these two write to them telling them your seeking legal advice, I had a letter back in 48 hours saying they would not be following it up.

It’s also important to check all the wording is correct as a lot of authorities use agency workers to send out these letters and as they tend to copy and paste mistakes are easily made making them not legal
