So what is it you are actually doing?

You can also book your medical again and get the ball rolling. I predict it won’t be too long before you get yourself sorted on your licence.Definitely won’t be long. I predict first wage will be medical/theory/CPC mod 2. Get the ball moving once again
But I shall be taking my time with the training side of things. But I reckon I won’t be too long after my birthday doing Cat C training

great news fella and although its nights 4/4 shift isn’t bad at all, you get a bit of a social life too lolIndeed it isn’t, it works great for working most weekends as I’m not out on the lash with the mates which tends to get quite expensive £200 was my last night out tab

So certainly not something I want to be doing often. So it’s a win win overall
Cheers
Jonny
If you spent £200 on a night out. Your either doing drugs or buying all your mates beers. That would be 67 pints in my local.
Keep going bud,
We’ll all see you on the road soon! It won’t take you that long with that attitude!

Thank you all for the kind words, mucker I’m in the transport office as a ‘traffic operator’ or in mine and your terms glorified planners. And having had my first experience speaking with drivers and being let out with a driver was even more cool, so if said driver is on here tyvm for a very informative trip out!! And spectron can you tell me where your local is? As here the drinks are near £3 a go…and yes i buy drinks only for my best of friends and including midnight scran and the taxi fares and club admittance fees it adds up lol! Once in every blue moon though!
Suppose i best finish up the reply anyway, just thought id answer a few comments whilst on break! Can’t be doing too bad as they’ve seemed impressed enough that ive handled the first shift in my stride. One step at a time though
Cheers
Jonny
Well done pal, it’s the first rung on the ladder! get that DCPC and get on the road to heaven!
click, click, 3,000,000 miles later I’m still at it, click!
best job in the world Johnny! Enjoy
Are you saying you are doing the planning?
Thank you I musn’t be doing too bad as they’re putting me on a drivers hours course next week to have me upto date with things and teach me things I didn’t already know.
And I’m sort of planning as the loads are there ready to be taken, loaded or tipped and it’s my job to assign them to a driver as I see fit. As I will be the team leader of a number of drivers meaning I have to be on the ball most of the time. And being on nights it’s nice and relaxed but enough to keep you awake
Cheers
Jonny
This is nothing against you Jonny but why have a big company given a job like that to somebody with no experience in transport

Oh come on Mac, how can you actually ask that question? Have you never been in the traffic office of a big company?

That’s what I mean, there’s no wonder we are just chasing our tails as I put I’ve nothing against Jonny but he’s only been driving two months and knows nothing about how long anything takes and wont do for years.

Well said, I have to admit that when I first read this I thought it was all jackanory and now he claims he is a team leader I am convinced it is.
He will soon have his eyes wide awakened n come back down from cuckooland to the real world
Why did they give me a job? Well i applied for it as it was a start for me in transport. At the moment i don’t lead any trucks due to being in training by people who’ve been doing this job a lot longer than I’ve been out of school. They gave me that chance because the interviewer could see i was enthusiastic enough to learn i just stated the job title ive been given and said role it involves…
Wondered how long it would take for folk to come shoot me down for being in said job. personally i think it was good of them to give me that chance to get my foot in the door…and when the likes of you complain theres no new blood coming into the industry then your shooting someone down for trying to get a start…the reason i took the job on was so i had something else to fall back on and learn what goes on inside a traffic office.
Least I’m not on the dole though…
Cheers
Jonny
I don’t think anyone is trying to shoot you down but for you to do a drivers hours course then become team leader telling drivers how to do the job which if you want to keep this job is what you will have to do does not ring true. You have had 3 or 4 jobs in the last couple of months and they have all promised you the world which at your young age you believe when you get older you will no they say anything to get you to work there. There are a lot of people doing the job and most have not got a clue after years, they will give a job out that will take ten hours at night and think same job can be done in the same hours on a Friday afternoon or when there is a foot of snow. Like I put in earlier post it’s nothing against you.
Jonny, you don’t half ramble on. Well done though, genuinely pleased for you lad.

Please, make sure if you can, it is an approved course so it could be 7+ to your DCPC, really chuffed for you if all youngster were like you and got off there arse and worked the UK would be a better place for it, I wish you all the success in getting your licence’s, stick it out and I doubt you will be paying for a class one they will pay it for you, always good to have a driver as a planner so you know both sides of coin will be better for it.
good luck jonny.
