That must be a western Canada thing because you see quite a few spread axles in eastern Canada, usually on US trucks. I remember when I first came to Canada about 4 years ago someone at my company mentioning those spread axles and saying that its Alberta that doesn’t like them, which is why very few Canadian firms have them as it limits the scope of their operations but I didn’t know you could slide them like that so I’ve learnt something now. Does the rear axle always stay where it is or can that be moved too?
The rear axle is fixed, but i can lift it when empty which increases the mpg a bit… lifting it also turn the truck into a 4 axle and makes toll roads a bit cheaper!

I took a bit of a ‘chance’ when i started at Fox’s transport. I didn’t know anyone in Canada (apart from you lot on here ) or anyone at Fox’s Transport or anything about the company, and i am (or was) the only foreigner working here (they now have Danish man who started same time as me and a Dutchman who just started a few weeks ago) the company has well maintained equipment and the pay is mileage based ‘trip money’ paid per mile.
Trips are usually Alberta to Texas or California with back loads from anywhere in the USA to usually BC,AB or SK.
was just enjoying those pics then see the fuel price… now i am drooling on the keyboard…
My New, New Truck again! (Old new one got dirty!)
Having never had a brand new in my 28 years of Class 1 driving, i have now had two brand new trucks in two months!.. no more ‘crunching’ with my new Eaton ‘Ultrashift’ Automatic… Clutchless ‘Push Button’ auto with paddles on the steering wheel also… i love it and it operates and changes the same as my favourite Volvo iShift!.. and a ■■■■■■■ engine
Thoroughly enjoyed reading your thread here mate…decision made, I’m coming, and I’m coming asap! ha!
Now to find a company who will employ me and get the paperwork on the go!
Nice truck.
