Good news for you Stobart haters

That used to be a favourite stop of mine.
If Stobart [zb] s that up, (one of the very few pubs left where you can actually park your truck) like they’ve [zb] ed everything else up they get their grubby germans on, :imp: … I’ll hate the [zb] s even more. :grimacing:

I bet this was Beaver’s idea. :imp:

I was involved in a brain storming session and I simply suggested finding a site where we can ‘capture’ a bunch of trampers. It seems that pot noodle sales are high in that area, so my idea was to Sellotape (other brands are available) an application for employment form to a pallet full of the things & sell them there.

I got a new clipboard and 3 pairs of gloves as a goodwill gesture for my recruitment revolution. Boom, ave it. #tnukno1celebdriver

Where’s the pallet Mr Beaver?
And what flava noodles about?

As a prophet destitute of love, in need of a flock, and who’s craving too have his plumage admired by others again(as you well know yourself, it’s a burden to carry, but needs must [emoji38])
I could stretch too Northampton for the chance to be envied by others again…

I’ve my feelers out, but they aren’t obviously as far up the great chain as your good self seems to have gotten(in such a short space too, hat doffed as it seems the true messiahs to the cause are returning, my turn soon I hope [emoji1]) so if there is a space to shine ones excellence again, I’d be most greatfull to hear of it, nylons all pressed an ready [emoji23]

Mind I should think those spots will vanish fair quickly, no amount of 1k a week day work can ever match the pride one will feel when you rock up in an Eddy [emoji3059]

I be very surprised if the red lion would be closing. If Stobart was moving there it could be on the land beside it. We will have to wait and see, but remember rumours are rumours and not facts, we will have to wait and see.

This talk me driver who work at Stobart. It is may not exactly Red Lion.I think near.New site will ready in September. Can see later.

.At September Stobart leave Rugby truck stop and go to Northampton where was Red Lion …

Is the Red Lion closing? :open_mouth:

I doubt it, like Mazzer2 said, recently been extensively tarted up parking area wise, and absolutely rammed every night. Looks like the bar may sometime take more than the parking… :grimacing: .

Theres a massive warehouse development next door though, I guess that’ll be Eddie’s new abode. We’ll have to see if that means that the Lion will be packed with Green Death lorries, or if they have factored in enough parking of their own…

No chance of that happening seeing as all Stobart wagons are driven by Piotr, Krzysztof or Andrejs these days. They never leave the cab when parked up and certainly never go in truckstops for food or booze.

I rarely get to the Red Lion nowadays, but that ain’t the point.
If it is true that they are going to ■■■■ up another truckstop, it’ll be a travesty, they already ■■■■■■ up 2 that I know of in Carlisle and Rugby, then there was one at Crick they closed if I remember right.
I stayed at Rugby soon after they infested it,.and it was like trying to sleep parked in Heathrow airport with all the noisy change overs and gobbing off drivers.
Surely there are plenty spaces, sites of old factories etc they could choose , instead of it always being truckstops that they always cabbage. :imp:

Yes i not use truckstop for different reason.
1.When i tramper i prefer make my own coffee(cost very low)instead buy chemical for 3 quid.
2.Early morning most services closed.
3.I not eat from Macdonal,Kfc ,hot dog
4.I don t drink Coca cola for any price
5.I not eat nothing after 1800.
6.I can easy buy food for whole week at Asda or Tesco for good price.
7.Every morning i make 1 litre rea or coffee in flask and it is enough for full day.
8.Why need buy water 0.5litre at services for 2 quid.Ir at Asda can buy 12 bottle for 3 quid??
From all truck stop goid food and price just at M@S ,sometime Waitrose. And cooked food from -eat @drink.

1 rugby t/stop is normally full by 8 pm so not sure where all these tri changes are being done , I’ve parked there / Carlisle hundreds of times & not had a issue sleeping , or not through lorry noise
2 if other than me all drivers are foreign , credit to them for picking up the English launguage so quickly & also have the various accents of this country to go with it
3 all food/ drinks are free , and have been since the start of covid so all these foreigners who apparently don’t get out there cabs do as they like a free cheese burger / coke as mum as the next person
4 if there moving from rugby truck stop ( I haven’t got a clue ) , then they need to sort out
The drainage in the bottom car park or provide waders
5 lastly , after reading a thread like this you realise how lucky you are to be one of those drivers who just worries about themselfes & not what everybody else is doing !!!

anyway I’m off for my big Free breakfast at rugby provided by the company who get so much abuse , would be interesting to know how many other firms have provided there drivers with free hot food / drinks throughout this pandemic !!!

Speak to lady who work in truckstop office. She said who Stobart will get dome new contract or just some job with partnership from Culina.

So let me…

Get this right. You whine constantly about impossible deadlines, being double crossed by your planners at almost every opportunity and now, having to wade through a river when you park your car for work. But, chuck in a free plate of bacon and eggs and ESL becomes Mother Teresa?

You’re a salesmans dream customer cos you’ll buy anything. :unamused:

Winseer:
One thing shows here though:

Paying less than the next yard - does NOT mean “Your yard is the last to go under”…

When the boardrooms decide that “Staff Wages” isn’t some kind of “money for filth” but rather an investment in the best assets they’ll ever have - perhaps we’ll see firms folding in some kind of “wages-led order”. Don’t hold your breath though.

As I’ve just found out the hard way - the client yard wins from the agency “partnership” - the right to otherwise ride roughshod over any staff any way any how.
Even the full time staff end up being losers when the firm starts involving agency, as firms pushed into working extra hours “for free” on their “salaried” contracts - already know, of course. :unamused:
Agency Workers Gone = All the work that used to be done by agency shared out among the full timers - but paid no overtime for covering such jobs!

This guy knows where it’s at.

Its the office bods who will make the majority. Most of Stobbies drivers in the Midlands are agency staff. Most agencies are going to go under.

They only use they’re own one though don’t they, logistics people?

They closed recruiting off the Stobart site months ago, and what’s on logistics peoples is, well to me at least, just page filler for non existing jobs just to keep the page alive.
Not right.Stobart truck it is ESL(Eddie Stobart logistic ltd).Logistic people belong not to ESL but for Stobart group.ESL not control Stobart group.Just Stobart group little bit control ESL.

Logistics People is a wholly owned subsidiary of ESL NOT Stobart Group.

They will reduce the drivers on agency contracts. Like they always do.

I still remember Stamford depot closing. They were real redundancies.

Agency drivers much more profitable for company. They do job more faster, less sleep. If any problem agency driver will banned from next day.But sacked full yime drivers sometime taked long time.

Another yard shut , thought I’d park there , turned in and it’s all locked up , lorries gone , that’s 3 places I know they’ve pulled out of now , so thinking the 100 redundant were office staff is just wishfull thinking , I’d say drivers , sure someone said one I was going to park at had 50 lorries in it at one time
