Hopefully someone will know the answer. The LDoY finals at Cranfield used to have a display of preserved vehicles over the weekend. Visiting once sometime around 1980 I remember seeing a red Foden DG 8 wheel tipper (built in about 1944?) which was in everyday use. I think the vehicle and its owner were featured in Truck magazine at some time.
Does anyone have any more details or better still a picture?
Possibly Edgar Waine and his Foden FG?

In use until 1992 - when the owner was 70It’s still about but sadly neglected by its new owners…
What a lovely old girl thanks for putting it on.
A few ERF’s that spring to mind are Edwin Holden’s wagon and drag and Limberts E series unit. Also used to see an early green EC14 with a HIAB on it on the M11 quite a lot.
Seen a black 143 with high roof conversion pulling boxes on the A14 quite a lot recently, think it was an F plate and also used to see a Y reg yellow and red 112 quite a lot when down in the Bournemouth area.
There was a chap from Hull pulling ferry trailers with an A reg F12 that I saw a few times but I think I have seen it up for sale recently.
Saw the guy with the Lreg 1973 ? Volvo F88 log hauler going up the M6 on Friday, he hadn’t long passed a vosa vehicle and it made me wonder if they gave him any hassle running a motor that old.

Never had a minutes trouble with them Dennis, If I got pulled in a motor in contract colours once they had clocked the BRS operators licence it was “on yer way son” !
Naughty I know but true !

VOSA do indeed take an interest - fortunately he knows more about F88’s than they do!
This other Volvo was at work until last year - it’s been sold now - not sure if into preservation or work!

It was sold by the family on the understanding that it would be restored -
I am told by Edgar’s daughter that :
It started life as a tanker in the 40’s and had the wheelbase shortened by dad when he converted it to a tipper in the 50’s. He operated the lorry until about 1992 when he was 70 years old. He undertook several modifications over the years. Trading it in for a new more modern model would never have entered his head - he never threw anything away! He was a terrible hoarder and always believed that absolutely anything could be fixed - although he was never that hot on the cosmetic appearance of things! Hence the truck’s slightly battered appearance even in its hey day when it was freshly painted.
After retiring he took the lorry to many shows and enjoyed the interest shown by many enthusiasts.
Thank you Fryske. Yes that’s the one. I hope I recall correctly that the LDoY programme spiel said that it was a DG model with a later FG cab. Which would seem to make sense.
Blowing up the picture it looks as if it has the heavy duty double reduction hubs fitted.

Did this Foden belong to Kevin Fullard at Wolverhampton?
Seem to remember him running yellow trucks
It could be, this is when Kev had it. He had it built for him at Fodens to his own spec with 525 ■■■■■■■■ 18 speed box.
Thanks to Kev for the picture .

Hi I see the old Bedford of Rumseys Every week in Bexhill collecting food waste from the cafes on the sea front, looks in very good condition.
Travelling along the M54 this morning were two of the Banks Brewery curtainside dray wagons, both Leyland (not Leyland DAF !!!) Freighters, one on a “R” reg, one on a “T” reg - I’m sorry I wasnt able to photograph them as I was running fully freighted.
Hope somebody can post pics of them tho!
