That’s not true: Dieseldave continues to answer questions on this as best he can on the Feedback Forum (where this thread should have been in the first place!). Here’s the link:

Two months on and it’s still not fixed, 20 mins to post 3 photos, a waiting game posting and to get it fixed. A dire situation in this day and age of IT wizardry.

Must say if you catch it right like I just have it is as quick as anything but like yesterday after writing several lines it just lost the lot, so frustrating, Buzzer
I’ve just given it up as a bad job so will just keep having an odd glance in now and again to see if it’s functioning properly but maybe the Mods are trying to tell us something but subtly like -----why don’t you old 'uckers just rev up and 'uck off Or tell the bloke downstairs in the cellar to peddle a bit faster then maybe the TN site will soon be up and running at full chat once more ! Cheers Bewick
AS Mr Buzzer says, if you catch it right it quick/normal, but it’s very ‘hit and miss’. It’s not (IMO), the mods fault, they’re in the same boat as the rest of us. In my opinion the fault can be put squarely at the door of the owners, DVV Media.
October 13th and the problem doesn’t appear to be any closer to being resolved does it ? … or is it just a case of getting used to the glacial speed as this is as good as it’s ever likely going to get ?

Mate this has been going on for far too long but saying that I find if one needs to post something on here you just have to click on, sometimes it is evident it is going to take forever but on other occasions it is instant so I post when its like that, it is inconvenient but it is less frustrating doing it this way, despite moans from lots of quarters no one has fixed the issue, we live in hope and I dont get any probs with other internet sites visited, all the best Buzzer
When it is painfully slow I open 3 windows and progressively select the next 3 Threads.
That way I can read one thread whilst the other 2 are loading.
It looks as if the Trucknet forum has gone by it’s sell by day and in this format is too broken to fix so it looks as if they are migrating the site to a new platform, just checked the feedback forum and this news has only just been released couple of days ago. They are talking around the end of this month so let’s see if it is a smooth less transition or a complete ■■■■ up
This was posted at the top of the page a couple of weeks ago so for anybody else who has not noticed it.
FAO all members: TruckNet UK is migrating to a new platform
Postby dieseldave » Sun Oct 01, 2023 3:23 am
Following on from my post halfway down, and my other posts in this topic:
trucknetuk.com/phpBB/viewto … &start=150
I should explain that, as everybody already knows… TN has been running in fits and starts with unacceptably slow page-load times, and I’d made a promise to inform everybody with an announcement once I had something concrete to report.
That time has now come, so here’s the promised announcement.
After much emailing and Zoom meetings over a longish period of time with the owners of TN, DVV Media International Ltd, I can now announce that TN is moving to a completely new platform called ‘Discourse’ which (I’m told) is a well known and respected platform for internet forums.
Up to this point in time, there was a suggestion that pictures posted before 2020ish were to be ‘lost’ in the process of shrinking the size of the database to be migrated. I fought our corner on this point and pointed out that TN has a very unique treasure trove of history and dug my heels in when it came to the ‘Old Time’ forum and the ‘pictures’ forum, which has now been agreed to be retained as is.
As with most things, certain compromises have had to be made due to I.T. topics I don’t understand like… available space on a server, compression of database and other issues of ‘migration.’
As for when this is all going to happen, I was met with various reasons why it isn’t an exact science, so I pushed for an estimate.
The estimate is that we should be moving at the end of next month (October) but this is NOT set in stone for reasons beyond DVV’s (and my) control. I must point out (clearly) that the end of October is an estimate given in good faith at this time.
The very latest news is that we hope to be doing some offline testing in a week or two, but we have had it explained that there may be some teething troubles. To some extent we are in Discourse’s hands, but I’d like to assure everybody that, from our point of view, no effort will be spared to get it right in the end.
I will update this topic when I have something else concrete to tell you.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

I think that we should start a crowd funding page for Dave’s valiant efforts and if we get enough contributions, we could buy him a pie.
