Yep, I was on their site last night as I’m running down to Offenburg on Monday.
Offenburg?
Run down through France, cross at Strasbourg and avoid the Maut.
Just saying like
Thanks. The funny thing is that even though that was my instinct too, and what the sat nav says, my boss favours the Germany route, for reasons I don’t understand either. So I’ll be likely heading to Venlo, getting TC somewhere there, and sticking on the M61 and M5. The only benefit I can see is that it’s a simpler route. Shouldn’t get lost at least!

It’s reasonably difficult to get lost going France as well. Offenburg is signposted off the autoroute through Strasbourg, so you can’t even miss the junctions.
Well you can, but you’d have to work at it.
Assuming a Calais departure point THIS will be the most cost effective route to Offenburg.
A 25 toll autoroute to Lille
8€ vignette for Belgium and Lux.
Fill up with cheap diesel in Lux
Lux border to Metz is a toll free autoroute, thence from Metz Ost via Chateau Salins to join the A4 at Phalsbourg for the last few clicks on the toll autoroute to Strasbourg.
If coming from the Dutch ports, the same basic route through Belgium, Lux and France applies (Hook of Holland). No need to touch Germany until the last few clicks from the French border.
Going Venlo - Offenburg through Germany would be approx 80€ one way in Maut depending on your emission class
I think the reason my boss prefers Germany may rely on out of date information about French Tolls and Toll on fuel you are carrying or something. He also doesn’t like the Antwerp ring. Not tried it myself but reckons it can be very busy. Anyway we will certainly take your info on board for next year.
So in the event I did go the Germany way and you were bang on, it was about 80 euro.
In spite of thinking it looked idiot as idiot proof route I did manage to get confused around Mannheim - was supposed to go A6 then A5 according to TC card. Problem was that the A6 crosses the A61 North and South of Mannheim (twice) and I got a bit confused as I hadn’t noticed this in advance. I ended up going down A65 and joining original route later, going under one TC gantry on A65. So I reckon we can expect a nice letter at some point - any idea what the fine will be for that sort of thing?
What drives me nuts about pre-pay TC is that you can register a route, and the computers are clever enough to know which way you did go, but instead of giving you say 24 hours to pay the difference it’s a fine for being off route.
Seems a little unfair when if you have a box in the cab you can make it up as you go along! Ah well…
The route the machine gives you is generally the shortest route, if you use sat nav change the route settings to shortest distance rather than fastest route and it will usually match up.
Antwerpen Ring can be very heavy traffic at peak times, particularly around the Kennedy Tunnel, but outside those times it’s usually not too bad.

I’m not surprised he travelled across Germany without getting caught. I’ve done 17 return trips across Germany (Aachen-Koln-Frankfurt-Passau-Suben) without paying Maut (we were exempt as carrying humanitarian aid), and I’ve only been stopped twice.
First time go to Germany .Was there just by simple from Poland to Holland and from Poland board to France. When i go i need pay for road. But when i go there i can buy just one way till my delivery point ,because i don t know where i will loaded. So when i start go from delivery point to collection point or back to Belgium -i must pay before i join motorway or i can stop at first services readey at motorway and pay for motorway from entry to motorway till requared distenation.Thank
There are always toll gantries right before service stations on the motorways so to stay on the safe side get a ticket that will get you to your tip and further to the next service station on the motorway (that being the exit after the services). You can wait for your next address there and also get the corresponding ticket.

You must have a valid ticket before entering the motorway network.
Note also that a large number of non motorway dual carriageways and a few specific single lane roads are now subject to the toll.
A roll out of the toll to cover all Bundesstrassen is planned for 2018.
If you don’t have a magic box, then it is up to you to find a toll machine before you enter the toll network.
No excuses if caught.
Don’t worry if you have no cash to pay the fine, the coppers/BAG are all equipped with hand held credit card machines

Our company and trucks are registered with Toll Collect, so we can register a route on the internet, saves looking for a toll machine especially when a bit off the beaten track or getting toll box fitted if you don’t often go to Germany.
Of course you have to get the company registered so if you’re not in a position to do that it’s a non starter, but it’s not overly complicated and free.
i know its a few years ago now but the largeish lad in the toll collect office just past Venlo said, if you go off route unintentionally and get a fine in the post take the original tickets and the fine to him he can calculate the difference in the whole toll distance and that’s all you pay, it might have changed but worth a try.
