You count the pots sticking out of the back of the cab, Dennis. There’s just two small problems- You & I can’t seem to count past six, and over the last 30-or-so years I for one have got used to having a nice warm comfortable sleeper cab covering the back end of the engine.
And no, those nest-boxes on your Atkis don’t count as sleepers.

Plenty sticking out the back of the cab on this one, not pots though, just a big blower on this early US 290 ■■■■■■■ built originally for BRS on their own production line at Guy Motors these J’s were a powerhouse in 1974. I drove one for BRS at Smethwick, top speed unkown fuel consumption 5mpg on a good day ! This one has had a Seddon Atkinson rockwell rear axle fitted to get to lower the gearing down a little.
That sure is one hell of a Big J Trev ! There’s only BRS that could have afforded to run them I would think ! Cheers Dennis.
But fuel costs were not quite so much of an issue back then, were they?
I remember my Ford D1000 with it’s Perkins V8 returning about 5mpg and the 205 ■■■■■■■ in the BRS Big J doing not much more. Ten years later and we were in a right panic when the Volvo 290 only gave us around six!

was this from The 80s TV series Truckers, Lonesome Cowboys truck?, hadn’t seen it before,
This Mack is parked up in leyland and I would think it will be in the Leyland Fest tomz?
If this was the truck in the 80s truckers I got it ready for the show but cant rember the reg number, all the work was dont at K & P Iddons transport and we changes lots of thing to make it like was when it was new.
The truck if the same belonged to a owner driver call Kevin but cant rember his last name, while it was in filming one time a stunt driver would drive it, but one day the stunt driver got it in rev gear while going forward at 40mph. Lets just say the gear box was not on good order after that.
I would love to know if it was the same truck.

Hi all.
I can now confirm this is not the same truck after talking to the guy that owns it. He also jogged my brain cells, the Mack that was in the program had the front axle set further back that the one on the he owns.
Cheers

IIRC The Rockwell axle was put on as the engine was taken up to 335 HP and the original axle didn’t like that…
The Rockwell gave far too high a top speed and so a direct top gearbox was fitted.

Is it steam , or smoke above the roof ?
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Maybe it’s a Foden steamer with one of those modern Swedish cab-things grafted on?

Bonnie Lass- have you thought about a better internet service? There are plenty of decent deals around at the moment.

At the moment I’m in rented accommodation, & my am being made redundant in a few months (end of the summer). I will be relocating to were ever I can get work in the UK. So I really don’t want to be ‘tied’ in to any deals, or it will be just another burden at the end, to tie things up when I move. Thanks for the suggestion though I had though previously about it but always came to the same conclusion
