Had them when I drove for B&Q in Swindon. Mercs and Volvo. They spent a fortune on 25 each and installing 2 huge gas filling stations. After 2 years binned the lot and went sole Volvo diesel fleet! Expensive experimentOurs are all about 3 yrs into a 5 yr deal so we’ve got to wait another 2 yrs to change them.
B&Q paid to get out merc contract as they had retro fitted LNG systems and were constantly broken down. They used just as much diesel as a normal diesel truck and around 90kgs of LNG.
Volvo slightly better but only had a 100 litre diesel tank, so if gas not working then your filling up out on the road.
IMO only good thing about them was when gas ran out and they switched to
Diesel. Pulled like trains after.
