forward facing camera

Only girls read the instructions  had a couple of Stellaā€™s and donā€™t think PC will read the sd card

Tarmac duck:
After all that my camera has now packed up. About a minute after turning it on it starts to beep and the red and blue lights flash alternately. It is a road hawk and is nearly three years old. Any ideas please ?

That means its not recording or the memory card is full and not writing over old material. Like Hammer said, delete everything on it and re-insert it. If that doesnt work replace the SD card. Make sure its a good make such as Sony . Obviously the higher the storage capacity the more you can store on it. I got a 16GB and reduce bump settings so it records more.

If your PC is not showing anything on the SD card then its knackered.

Dont get a sony sd card. You want a sandisk preferably an ultra.

Why? Roadhawk comes fitted with a Sony. Mine did anyways

The important thing to look for on a new Sd card is it must be class 6 or higher

when fitting a forward facing camera always remember that the camera can work against you as well as in your favour

Thatā€™s what the delete button is for.

Of course, but if an accident is my fault then thereā€™s no obligation on me to submit the footage, I could always say Iā€™d forgotten to plug it in that day or something, although the claim would almost certainly go against me anyway if it was my fault. I do see it as something more likely to work in my favour rather than against it.

If it is your camera in your vehicle then in reality (unless you are dead or otherwise incapacitated) the footage is pretty much 100% under your control. If itā€™s not your camera, then itā€™s still pretty much under your control (at least until your employer has arrived to access the recording  ). In both scenarios itā€™s just something else you need to remain aware of.

sorry I spilt my tea on the memory card

i have just been looking into having forward facing cameras in the 16 vehicles we use.
we have an excellent accident record at the moment & was wanting to keep it that way with the insurance co.
the cameras we look at were Ā£135+vat fitted & did the job for us.when we spoke to our insurance company(zurich) they said it wouldnā€™t lower our yearly premium or contribute towards the costs,so no point in them being fitted.we might as well have the odd bump a year & let them pay for it for what we pay every year in insuranceā€¦

Still we worth having. Might turn an at fault accident in to a non fault incident.

Yep, you could get away with one a year but what happens if your luck changes and you get 5ā€¦
