Forum Rules
These rules apply to all features on this website including the photogallery and any other features we may add or provide
Rule 1 YOU are responsible for the contents of YOUR posts. If you post something that causes someone to sue us, then we’ll pass on everything we know about you. We will NOT carry the can.
Rule 2 If you’re unhappy about a specific post, use the report button or e-mail or PM the Forum Moderator. They will then look into it and get back to you…Although bear in mind that we are not online 24/7 so it may take us a bit of time. We WILL respond, even if it’s just to disagree and tell you why.
Rule 3 No bad language, racism, or other downright 'orrible stuff. This includes content in images and videos The quickest way to find out if a word is allowed or not is to include it in a posting, and if the auto censor gets it, it is not allowed.
Re-spelling or doctoring a word to get it past the censor does NOT suddenly make the word allowable.
Rule 3 also covers Personal Attacks. Attack the post but not the poster.
Rule 4 Posting of Copyrighted Material is NOT ALLOWED If anyone complains about their stuff getting ripped, we’ll refer them to you.
Rule 5 No spamming, trolling, advertising without permission – be that other websites or whatever – and no pinching e-mail addys or using our PM system to poach members. This is an English language board and therefore any post made in any other language without obvious reason within the context of a thread, will be treated as Spam. Spammer’s accounts are simply deleted when we spot them without a second thought.
Any media organisation, company, educational establishment or individual seeking information to help with a project from the members of this site should seek permission BEFORE posting the request.
Rule 6 Links to Other Websites.
Links such as your own homepage, a blog, or your online photo stash are allowed and can be included in the WWW bit in your profile or your signature.
Links to Commercial Sites which are blatant adverts are not allowed unless it is somewhere you’ve used in the past or are passing it on in response to a query and you have no connection to the company.
Links to other truck-related forums.
Posting a link for no reason other than to attract members to the site concerned is Spamming in our view, so is not allowed.
What happens on other sites stays on other sites so posting another sites business on this site is also not allowed.
We don’t actively campaign as a general rule, although occasionally do support specific causes. If you would like our help in that regard, PM Rikki-UK, or e-mail him at notifications@trucknetuk.com If there is a relevant reason for a link to go up on a thread, because it refers to a specific topic under discussion or contains info that may help the person requesting it, then that is allowed provided it leads DIRECTLY to the subject concerned and is not just a general forum link.
The best plan with ANY link you are unsure about, is to ask first. You’d be surprised how often we say “YES” when people take the time to respect the site in this way.
Rule 7 You keep copyright on your own posts. Members of the media may NOT quote from your posts without permission. The only exception to this is when we pinch quotes for our OWN use, but since that’s usually to help grow the website for the good of us all, that seems like fair cop to us.
Rule 8 PM’s and E-Mails sent through this site are subject to the same rules as everything else. We don’t however have access to them so if you have concerns we will not know until you contact an Admin. If you abuse the Messaging systems, we will suspend your right to use them. PM’s and Emails are private between users and must remain so.
Rule 9 If you do anything blatantly out of order which hasn’t already been covered — re-editing a Mod’s edit or trying to hack into other people’s accounts, for example - we will follow the same path as with other rules breaches.
Rumour, Gossip or just plain old Bull manure
This industry has always been rife with rumours, I have forgotten how many times I have been told in truckstops and cafes over the years that XYZ hauler has gone bust, is in trouble etc and the huge majority are still trading succesfuly today.
This forum and the internet in general is not immune to those rumours, however the problem with the internet is that those rumours hang around, and can be found by many other people. 2-3 people in a Truckstop bar will have little impact. A post on an internet forum can be read by many more people.
If you want to post “Gossip” then please ensure it is based on more than " I overheard,"or “a driver told me”, do a little research before making a public statement about a companies position.
If you have some information about a company but cannot verify it, but are convinced it has some element of truth, then you can always Private Message me and I will look into the rumour via DVV Media International Ltd’s many industry contacts and let you know as soon as possible what I have found out and advise whether it can be posted publicly
We will remove any gossip that is found to have no foundation in truth, to protect us,the poster and the company concerned. valid requests for information on a company will be removed temporarily and researched as far as we can and the results posted. Repeated questions on the same subject will be removed as well. and the poster refered back to the original.
If you have "New Factual Information " that can be verified then by all means post a new topic or add a reply to the original.
Posting of Registration Numbers on these Forums.
After the subject was raised by the membership and a vote had been run, the results were as follows:-
57% wished the posting of individual registration numbers other than their own to be banned.
35% did not wish them to be banned.
7% were not bothered either way.
A total of 190 votes were cast.
Therefore, the outcome of this poll means that:
As of this notice, the posting of individual registration numbers for the purpose of identifying or naming and shaming the driver of any given vehicle is banned from these Forums.
Postings made before this notice will be left alone, but any numbers posted after this will be removed. Repeat offences will be dealt with under the usual rule structure.
This ban does NOT cover discussions about cherished plates, searches for particular vehicles by former owners, or the posting of you own registration for whatever reason. It’s the naming and shaming thing we’re aiming to stop.
Posting of other peoples personal details
Posting home address’s, personal telephone numbers, car registrations or any other personal details that they havent volunteered/allowed to be posted is not allowed and will be removed without notice
Note This website is owned by DVV Media International Ltd. and administered by us for them. DVV Media International Ltd. can withdraw all or any part of the website or use of its facilities to all users or individuals at any time.
Continued use of this website following the posting of the rule changes will be deemed as acceptance of the changes. Any member who feels they cannot use the site under these changed rules may contact an Admin and ask for their membership to be terminated.
TruckNet UK is a forum for discussing the transport industry overall and truck driving in particular- all discussions/interaction should be based on that. We have a singular forum for non truck driving discussion (Bully’s bar). From the date of posting all content that is not on topic will be removed.
If you want to discuss your ■■■■■■ exploits, your kinship or otherwise with other nationalities, the art of DIY or any other subject there are other forums out there that cater for this… sign up and use them, TruckNet UK is not Facebook and a free for all… it is transport focused. - keep it on topic or it will be removed.
Trolling
Will no longer be tolerated- if in the view of the admin team your posts are simply one line trolling and not posted to contribute/ add value to a discussion they will be removed… the arbitors of this will be the admin team.
Random crap
Posts that do not make any sensible contribution to the forum will simply go
the arbitors of this will be the admin team.
Baiting other members
Posting simply to get a rise out of another/other members will simply lead to the poster no longer being able to post without their posts being scrutinised first no warnings- it will just happen. any such posts will be removed
the arbitors of this will be the admin team.
Reporting
Every post has a report button, If you feel a post has gone to far report it to the moderating team - we cannot and do not read every post and rely on members to draw our attention to posts that may have gone to far. If you dont report it dont complain that we havent dealt with it
From the date of this post it is agreed by all users that these guidelines are accepted by them, if you dont feel you can use this website within these guidelines please do not visit here or use the service provided
This is not open for discussion- either use this forum as the owners intended it to be used or do not come here
What will happen if you break the rules on this forum?
Stage One - Rule Reminder[/b]
The first time a rules breach occurs, you will receive a PM or E-Mail from the Forum Moderator or an Admin reminding you of the rules.
members who breach the rules slightly or whose posts take up a disproportionate amount of the Moderators/Admin team’s time may have their forum permisssions set so any posts they make has to be approved by a Moderator/Admin before it is seen publicaly. This may be done for a short time (e.g. Overnight to allow a situation to cool down,) or for a longer period. The pre-moderation may be set for a single forum or board wide depending on the individual case. It may take a while for pre-moderated posts to appear depending on wether any of the moderating team are on-line and their workload
IF you carry on creating work for the Mods with your rule-breaching, you will get a Long Term Suspension - Suspension will only be lifted at the discretion of the admin team and once we have received a written undertaking from the member concerned to abide by the rules in future.
Important Notes
1. Anyone caught posting under another Username whilst a suspension is in force will automatically earn the next level of suspension, starting as soon as the current one has ended.
2. If, after a period of 6 months since the end of the most recent suspension, a member has 100% abided by the rules and there have been no further problems, the “clock” will be reset and they will go back to the top of the process.
3. The Chatroom and PM/E-mail system are by their nature unmoderated. However, if complaints of a sufficiently serious nature are received by Admin about abuse of these facilities, they may be withdrawn from a member under the system outlined above.
4. Suspensions will be lifted once they have been served. However, as we are not online 24/7 and this is not an automatic process there may be a short delay in having posting rights re-instated but it will be done at the earliest opportunity.
5. While in normal circumstances we will follow the above procedures, there may be extreme cases where we have to involve Road Transport Media Ltd, or the legal team, in those cases we may have to remove posting rights instantly without following all the above steps while waiting for a response. The time spent under suspension while waiting for a response will count toward whatever suspension is then applied.
6 Any sanctions taken against a member are private between the member and the TruckNet UK website team. We will not enter into public discussion about those actions.
