I’ve had diff locks come on on their own and also refuse to disengage.
Fodens with them stupid green plastic switches could be murder for not releasing the diff locks. I remember driving up and down haul roads like a lunatic trying to disengage them.
I drove a Sudden Accident and the fitters had wired them up to a huge red light on the dash, they must had had a problem in the past

Some did, the ones I had were no problem but I was taught to double check that they were off and I always checked a spare wagon that they worked in the first place.
I had problems with the CF rocker switches; One was broken by another driver who lodged it back in and thought I wouldn’t notice. To be fair, they drove the sort you described so might’ve thought you just pressed it without using the slider part.
i’m surprised at this… i thought one of you would of locked on to what each member has said…

I left mine on many years ago on my Scania 142,a few days in a foreign garage, and some money knocked off for the haulier to come down and get the trailer, for me not completing the trip.
Leeds City Council Refuse Dept had all theirs disabled back in the 90’s due to an inquisitive type (not the driver btw) who found they make you go straight on. It was great fun one winter being paid for a whole shift while a wrecker came and got us out of a snowy cul-de-sac in Adel (no. I wasn’t the driver), a situation that would’ve easily been remedied with diff-locks and/or grit in the grit bins. Not all bad though, the local totty looked after us with hot croissants, tea and sandwiches .

The old Pegaso had the diff lock switch overhead next to the interior light switch. A fair number were thrown in at speed which resulted in exploding axles. It took them ages to re-locate it…
Can’t get me head around that, can’t think of a diff-lock that will engage at speed.

Richmond your right, ours were ordered with the diff locks after a load complaints from the drivers. Nice to have a boss that listens even if he did have moan about it.
