I’ve been to Sweden many times and seen the women there. Your wife must be something very special indeed.

yes, maybe he’s swedish and looks like he’s been hit by a steel bar
but he’s on a winner because the amount he’s saving on beer prices in sweden make up for his lower wages

there are no potholes on the forest road but they insist on doing 70 in an 80 zone wakners
That’s is annoying tough.
What really annoys me is drivers moaning about someone not targeting speed limit and not overtaking those going slower. It is maximum speed not minimum. Overtake if you want to go faster, or correct me if I"am wrong you only know how to drive fast and in straight line

ooh have a go at me because i want to go faster
have you ever driven the forest road? there is now a complete ban on overtaking from poitiers to irun except the bordeaux ring road, a distance of over 400kms now if i were to drive like the flipflop brigade i would (and have done recently) loose nearly an hour a day driving time.
might not sound much to you doing local agency work or whatever you do but if it means getting home or not at the end of a week to see my family while bogdan sits in his cab and polishes his flipflops it matters to me.
as for only being able to drive in a straight line and fast? maybe cos i drive a spanish truck that could be true

yes I do go home every day and I do work in Britain where it is hard to see overtaking ban - thanks God to that.
My apologies, you gave me different POV, but still here you have ppl who can overtake but they prefer to stick behind as they know to drive straight only.
And yes I did drove on that road but in a car so I do not register lorry bans as I am off work

.How I wonder have all these foreign drivers done with the driver CPC I bet they have all passed it easy
Propably yes, because, unlike in UK, it was in Eastern Europe for years and years

I dont know about the polish drivers, but at least latvians and lithuanians have fuel usage rules from company owners(hopefully you get the point) which is usually 29-35l for 100km, and if you go over that amount than they take it of your salary which is 0.10-0.13 euro cents per km. Thats why they maybe going so slow.
there isn’t any difference on fuel consumption really on the road between irun and bordeaux if doing 70 or 80 or 90 as there isn’t a hill to be seen, it’s like holland
over the last 4 years my truck has done an average of 35l/100km and i nearly always run at 40t and try to get 90k’s as often as possible so they must be getting better fuel figures than me

You might be surprised fella, if you have the time to try it at 80 one day. Higher speed = increased wind resistance and rolling resistance, the difference between 80 and 90km/h is probably worth 4 to 6 l/100km provided you’re running under similar conditions.
Anyway, back on topic, our firm has no problem with employing foreign drivers, we’re paid the same and the attitude between work colleagues is spot on. I’ve been there almost a year now and have never encountered a moment’s predjudice as a ‘foreigner’, proving the old cliché that the French hate the Brits is nonsense (here in the SW at least).

believe me I’m “trying it” everytime I run down that bloody stretch of road now, there’s no escaping the huge queue’s of trucks even the tanker drivers are getting stuck behind some really slow trucks now.
i have the same experience with my spanish colleagues, they accept me because i work for the same rate as they do and i contribute to society through taxes and bills just like they do. unfortunately though there are people prepared to work for 50% and they are disliked by us all in equal measure

I’ll have you know I resemble that remark
last monday morning drove from frankley services to darlaston, tipped and ran to the “new” hollies to park as my reload was tuesday in coors brewery burton.
total drive for the day 57 minutes total kms 68kms
I don’t have a problem with the ‘Foreign’ drivers If they live In the country where they’re working, as they are contributing to that economy.
I won’t go too much into specifics, simply so he does not get into trouble. But I know a bloke who runs an agency. He has both Brittish and Polish drivers. When the work comes in he phones all the Brittish drivers first to offer them the work. Not really a fair system. However it seems most of the time the Brittish drivers have no interest in working.
These are some of my favourite excuses:
“I went out last night and I’m still hung over”
“Er, I was planning on having a BBQ later as the weather is quite nice”
“I can’t, the Mrs says I have to take her shopping”
The Polish never seem to turn the work down, they seem to be very keen to work. As a result I don’t have too much to say against the Polish.
Just shows where their priorities are. I try not to turn down work but you know how it is, life gets in the way for some more than others.
out of the 60 or so drivers at our place theres 6 or 7 poles, a bosnian and a couple of scottish lads
and its always the same faces being asked to do extra runs or cover the holidays,or tip backloads,as most of the english drivers are always coming up with some excuse not to do over time, or have an extra night out,or notdrive the 7.5 tonner,
