A tidy looking lorry John 1. A lot of operators wish that Foden were still making lorries, particularly the Alpha. The Daf CF isn’t very popular with a lot of hauliers that I know.
Cheers Dave.

Yeah I know what ya mean, my brother’s also got a CF and we’ve cleaned the rails that the body sits on today and they’ve come up well.
Now go get it all dirty again !
Think I’ve posted these on the Hull thread but thought they fitted in here as well
Note the carefully fitted Red flammable diamond blanking off the heater intake as they where as useless as the headlamps
and no the Big J does hiding to the left not have an 8 pot Gardner in it
These children appear to to love their local Foden. I was about their age when this Glasgow picture was taken in 1958 by the famous street-scenes photographer, Roger Mayne, whose death was announced in today’s Guardian. Robert

Why the crew cab? Did they used to carry passengers as part of the job?

It says AFROVAN on the headboard so I imagine the crew-cab was for the immigrants. On the other hand it might just be the angle of the camera and the headboard reads AEROVAN, in which case case it was just a labour-intensive removals operation. They’re pretty inscrutable down-under, you know… Robert

As a great believer in the Elysian Fields and Afterlife,Robert Mayne will now be having a great time photographing Foden lorries, street scenes, etc.

Looks nice in the flesh too ,I spotted it tipping Tarmac in Bradford this morning near bowling back lane .
Having read through most of these pages I can’t believe there isn’t any photos of Danbury Haulage on here.
I worked for them on and off and always had fodens… I can’t work out how to post links… But if you google danbury haulage there’s a fair few photos of the old nurcombe lorries on there.
