They have turned a lot of the old warehouses in Gloucester Docks into posh flats now Nathan. That must be one of the few left.
Cheers Dave.
Me last year, on a night out in Scotland (Livingston).

That one is, Dave. It was Pridays, taken over in '93 by Dalgety and closed the following year. The old ADM mill is still there, derelict. Itâs nextdoor to the Quays shopping centre multistorey.
Anyone know if Tewkesbury Mill has started to be redeveloped? Matthews bought some old machinery from there last year, refurbished it and itâs now running at Shipton. My mate went there with the mill engineer in an articto collect the stuff, said it was like the Mary Celeste inside.
Good Luck on your new job , âMuckawayâ . Back to driving the DAFs again.
Keep your shovel clean, and don`t allow loose flour inside your wellies on a wet day.
I guess youre too tall to be one of Mr. Homepride
s Flower Graders

âŚAnd âDave the Renegadeâ reckons I dislike younger drivers , huh .
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
it doesnât matter how many straps you put on plastic food pallets shirt box the bloody things slip around . all you achieve with straps is torn bags . iâm surprised elf n safety still allow their use . wooden pallets canât be used to store flour in a bakery . another case of conflicting rules with the driver catching the flak .
I think itâs the customers they supply that specify no wood pallets, as many bakeries still accept them. Meant to be easier to clean, but most have bits broken off so dirt and germs will find their way in. Iâve heard theyâre about ÂŁ80 each to buy. Many places will only give you the same number that youâve delivered; I dropped 5 at one place today, I delivered 6 last week so there were 6 empties. I was only allowed to take 5 though. Youâd think theyâd want to send them back as they get charged for them.

Quite so as they canât rope and sheet, and if theyâre like me, donât give a â â â â because we use curtainsiders and straps nowadays.
Tewkesbury mill has now been sold and plans approved for some of the site mainly the old buildings this side of the bridge the old offices and canteen/mill stores etc but no work started yet.All the contents left got sold by auction last year.cheers flourpower.

Oh! dear Nathan, youâve let me down big time,I would have thought that youâd be a natural at sheeting and roping but youâve âgone over to the other sideâ The summer is on itâs way so what better time than to switch you onto a flat and make your deliveries of Flour like real drivers used to do prior to the introduction of curtainsiders By the way,who built the body on your motor,a well known name or a local body builder? Cheers, although very disappointed,Dennis
I never had the luxury of delivering flour with a curtainsider. It was all done with my Bedford S-type or my mateâs Albion Reiver. With proper roping & sheeting, of course. And at that time I donât think pump trucks had been invented. They wouldnât have been much good for getting those hundred-weight-&-a-quarter bags up in the granary, anyway!
I havenât done a granary delivery since coming back Casey. There is a bakery near Leicester that still has one, but most seem to be holiday lets and granny flats nowadays.
Talking of Tewkesbury, I wonder if the silo has leant over much more?
I wouldnât have thought it could have gone too much further!
