Are Allied Mills in with Rank Hovis or Allied Bakeries etc? Many of the plastic pallets I pick up and drop off have Allied Bakeries on them. Just wondered if any of the big companies had any tie-ins? (Like Heygates and Fine Lady etc)
Allied mills are part of ABF associated british foods which include Allied bakeries, british sugar, ryvita etc Burtons biscuits used to be part of them got sold to an American company now called burtons foods, cheers flourpower

Cheers for that Flourpower, I was just reading on various miller websites as I’ve noticed many bakeries I’ve been delivering to are either changing to a sole supplier (we’ve replaced ADM at a couple due to poor service etc where we used to do just a few special bags per week), or are using a mixture of several suppliers. A few of our London customers seem to have an even split of Matthews/Greens/Wrights. Although this past week I’ve noticed more Carrs and Marriages sacks around. Not too bothered, it means less carrying for me.

Premier Foods used to own Rank Hovis and British Bakeries, who make the Hovis bread range. A few months ago they sold a majority shareholding to a US based venture capital company. As said prviously Allied Mills own Allied Bakeries, which is the Kingsmill range of bread. At the moment there is a bread price war going on which is affecting the entire industry.

MARK MAYHEW OLD AD
Interesting, I never knew that Duramin fitted cabs onto Foden chassis. Mark Mayhew was a Ranks mill, acquired in the 1920s.
