Flashing/waving

Read the Highway Code about flashing in.
It should be banned as it comes from when lorries had small vibrating mirrors.
If you need to be flashed in and can not measure the trailer size with the size of modern mirrors then give up driving.
The amount of bulbs you must go through. Then call out a technician to change them.

you will be telling me next that i can not smoke in the cab either

I used to flash in but got no acknowledgment or thanks for it by an indicator or whatever.
You are all entititled to your opinion as it is a debate.
If i am so small minded, how do you explain my posts to help Newbies out and regular job vacancy posts of which Bacon Sandwhich found a job by.
I am getting at the size of truck mirrors. You can see without being flashed in.
I bet most of you drive by a fellow trucker who has had a blow out but are quite happy flashing all day and all night.
Call me all the names under the sun, i do not give a rats ■■■.That makes you small minded.

“Did the same with larries”
Does not matter do I know him or not. Now when you go down the motorway :open_mouth: you can keep your hand up all the time

Lol.
Big Finger Syndrome/Predictive 'Gay’Text ?
Or is it a Special Code out of the ‘Dogging Truckers Atlas’ ?
(Childish Giggle)

I aint saying owt but thinking more !! :unamused: :unamused:

I always flash or get flashed by drivers I know I’ve been at my place a while now so have got to know most other drivers doing a similar thing. Being a small local family firm every man and there dog flash me round our local area. My boss his brother and his mum are well known I spend a lot of my day smiling and waving to people i don’t know.

Bore off FFS, who cares if its in the highway code or another driver should know the size of their vehicle. Its just a friendly flash (when safe to) in out of courtesy nothing more nothing less :unamused:

There should be more courtesy on the roads, and more camaraderie among drivers like there used to be.

Some say he’s not a driver but just a retired major living in a home for the bewildered in Bradford on Avon, some say its a short bike ride to the beach, some say he’s lives on pulled pork cooked for him by Gertrude Fotherington-Smythe, whose father was the mayor, all we know is he’s Toby1234abc

Some say he should be taken seriously … I don’t

The original post was referring to flashing at drivers coming towards you as a kind of hello but if some people want to dig up the flashing in after overtaking then i suppose the old debate will surface yet again :unamused:

on that subject, yes i flash other drivers in and i usually knock a few clicks off
police officers don’t mind being flashed in from a slip road, hard shoulder etc although i do that to let them know i can see they wish to join the carriageway and i am happy for them to continue
i also flash if a truck is waiting to come out of a side road or roundabout entrance etc to confirm my indicator is on because i am turning off

th highway code is one set of rules. The rules of the road is a different set. Both contribute to safer driving

I wave at eddie stobart lorries. On my days off i stand outsids there depots doing this too. Its great fun still waiting to see mark dixon though.

I’ve run down to Wombourne from Barnsley tonight and I would say only about 20-30% of trucks I have passed have flashed me back in. It’s a sorry state of affairs and [zb] attitude of some drivers IMO.
I always flash others in even caravans and flash anyone back in who flashes me out to allow me to overtake or pull onto the motorway. I sometimes flash or get flashed by the other firms who subby for us.

Im guessing your running for Mallinsons then ?

I was only joking with ya Toby, hence the smiley faces

Fair play to ya helping out the new lads, as for the flashing/ waving I’ll usually flash em in or wave, no big deal if they don’t acknowledge back. The [zb]s that pull in a foot in front of you are the ones that annoy me. Nothing impressive about that !!!

No worries.
