First Volvo F10/12 in the UK

.
I had a T reg 278 with overdrive on the dash,X reg A reg 305 both overdrive on the gear sticks

as i remember it was phil crouch there was some thing about it in one of the magazines at the time being the first uk registered f10 to go abroad
my old fellas was uay 180s it was out the same time around the crouchs volvo

There were many small revisions to the F10/12 range, the first did indeed have the F88 style steering wheel & these (S reg) also had an all metal internal trim on the ‘sunroof’, the slightly later (mostly T reg) trucks had the beige plastig internal trim to the roof vent. As mentioned by Malc (wheelnut) many X reg trucks still had the splitter button on the dash in 1982, along with the itroduction of the ‘load lugger’ 255 F10 & 305 F12 & the Intercooled F12 range came the SR70 12 speed box, and the gear lever mounted splitter switch.

To my knowledge this was the last of the updates to the ‘flat top’ F10/12, but I do expect to be corrected  & if I’m right the next change was in 1983 when the ‘Highline’ cab was introduced & this also came at the same time as the square section tank, the flat tops all had the ‘round’ section tanks, this was also the first time the Volvo TD100 was sold with intercooling. The 1983 Model also saw the introduction of the first ever RHD Globetrotters, up to that point all previous Globies (round tank pre 83) versions were LHD.

Earlier in the thread a mention was made of a ‘coach dif’ which in reality was just the highest optional dif ratio, I had this in an X reg F12 which I bought in 1988 & here is how it performed. 1,350 rpm @ 50mph, it’s the inner calibration of the rev-counter thate metered in RPM, the outer is in RPS (revs per second)

Maggie D that Lawson F12 looks superb.Didn’t want to quote your post and repeat the pic. good though it is.It would be interesting to hear about the owner’s experiences with that,maintenance/repair/mileage etc.
