Behave man! You want to get it in the garage and get them to put the ‘9’ digit the correct way round.
only because you cant drive correctly special K, you have to drive it like a complete tart and it returns top fuel, if you bash its arse the thing is down to low.low 7 or high 6"s so i can be achived its just special K he carnt drive

Yes, gobby, that will be correct - I carnt [sic] drive. That must explain why it was my truck reg that was at the top of the average fuel comsumption list for September 07 at Hanson’s, standing a clear 1.2 mpg ahead of the next one at 10.6 mpg. And that was for a 44t XF430 mainly doing bottled water Bradford to So’ton and back up with bananas Portsmouth to Wakefield, all at full weight. I grant you that I didn’t go at much more than 50 on the flat but it kinda blows your ‘carnt [sic] drive’ argument out of the water…
Hi,
I drive a (professonally) remapped R580 with the manual “overdrive” gearbox and on a heavy week it will do 9.07/9.15mpg and on a light week can return 9.3/9.5 while sitting at a good 56mph/1100rpm so i would say globby may not be far wrong with his figures, a friend of mine does similar work to me with an FH13 i shift and gets 8.4/8.9 most weeks, another friend has an FH13 on euro work, mostly Andorra and gets low eights, low loaders, high trailers etc will kill any truck…

fly sheet:
Hello there, just put an 06 FH 13 520 on the road 1st March pulling a semi low loader, just worked the fuel out fill to fill checked my figures a few times and it did 6.32mpg the old 460 on a V plate with hub reduction was doing that, is it me or is that what these 520’s do?Fly sheet
Just to make you feel better, I’ve averaged 6.4 mpg this week, normally its around 6.8/7, theres been a healthy northery wind all week which has’nt help as I’ve been tugging odd shaped tackle up country all week, then on thursday I was expecting some payback when I was booked to bring something down from York to Southampton, the [zb]ing wind changed to westerly
I’ve considered an FH13 520 as my next truck, as a smaller 13 ltr engine with big 16 ltr power and torque characteristics must be the way to go, but I might be changing my mind if theres not much difference in economy when they working hard
I’ve had a 16 but only pulled a tilt or box on Greek/Maroccan work it did 8’s, I’ve a mate on boxes with a 16 it does over 9 everyday, Its early days & pulling a semi with ramps is hell on fuel but hey ho its comfier than the old 1 on steel

that will please Alex, he may be able to overtake someone at last!!!
alex is that used to been in the slow lane day in day out kindle he would bab his self if he wounded into the middle lane he would then end up like those annoying datsun sunny driving folk who have all relatives etc in the car sat in the middle lane basically going no where and annoying every other motorist , so if alex does get the chance to overtake dont do it alex you will be called all the names under the sun from other motorists
You don’t have to drive a V8 like an old woman to get good fuel. Just feather the throttle and you’ll get over 9 whilst still getting past everything in site. The ones that return bad figures are being driven wrong, changing down a split at 1250 and changing up at 1800 rpm. That’s missing the torque. Change up at 1500 max and let it drop down to 900 before changing down, that will bring in over 9’s. As much as it pains me to say it, Volvo’s are crap on fuel unless you have everything going for you. Slightly un aerodynamic trailer, local work a bit of traffic, etc, etc. Unless you have got a close coupled box trailer no higher than the spoiler, on a LONG journey, you will struggle to get above 7.5mpg. Having said all that, the 520’s are supposed to be worse on fuel than the 480’s, so given the type of work you do you’ll be doing well to see 7’s.
