It’s right enough it’s on there website. As retained we will be providing cover for our area!
I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t just seen it with my own eyes.
The world really has gone mad hasn’t it?

Does make you wonder how this will be crewed? I would have thought retained firefighters wouldn’t cross the picket line and if its the army, then they’d have their own drivers.Have you considered the possibility that the ad might be a troll?
Do you seriously think that GMFRS would be looking on fish4jobs for temp fire crew & drivers to cover any possible industrial action?
As tartan11 says, it’s on GMFRS own website as a job vacancy, not just fish4

I, for one, am fed up with The Army/RAF/RN doing the job of some Commie ■■■■ on a good number who takes a strop. Fire/Ambulance/Bins/Prison Service, even the recent threat of fuel tankers going off in a tizzy fit.
Should ■■■■■■■ FB take the same stance, I’ll gladly cross any picket line with a smirk and a sarcastic wave.
Now that I’m a “■■■■ you Jack, I’m alright” Civvy, I’ll do owt for £150 a shift.
You’ll be racing (not very far ) to incidents like this

Also useful as an instructional video in how putting a water jet on lit petrol causes it to run under doors and carry on burning.
Could they not temporarily recruit rescue vehicle drivers from cat sanctuaries?

Already driven a proper one! A green goddess. Now that was an experience!
Given the poor visibilty in them you could easily not spot a cyclist, so this was a bit reckless IMHO.
A Green Goddess would not keep up with any cyclist so no real issue
I know through experience! A lone mother pushing a pram with two kids should not keep up with a appliance on route to an emergency, but she did.

Hmmm did you not even begin to think why he may have driven a MoD vehicle in the first place?
They were built in the 1950s think about it!!!

Two user ids should spout differing opinions too but, curiously they don’t.

I did think about it. I thought about how I can I make a sarcastic comment in reply to some bell-end that, ordinarily, can’t stop banging on about lorries and push-bikes.
Unsurprisingly, you take yourself so seriously…woosh.
Spent ten weeks in 1977 driving a green goddess round Brum, based at RAF Cosford. Great time, good social life, and loads of pretty young WAAF trainees to chase around. Also got my HGV whilst there, when the army turned up to test the drivers.

In other words:“Scabs wanted”
would you say “go away scab” if your house was on fire or you was trapped in a crashed car or your cat was stuck up a tree?
You are still subject to driver’s hours regulations.
Awesome. Sorry your wife and kids burned to death, the driver was on a 45 in a layby.

Must be a hell of a fire if the driver has to do a 4 1/2 hr drive to get there!

I guess playing cards at the station doesn’t count as other work.

Exactly, the moron would be crying out for a scab if he’s trapped by fire.
I would happily Scab it up and save a life.

Oh, I dunno, what with this new Control Centre in Cheshire.
IIRC one of Carr’s ended up in a ditch near Silloth and a “local” crew was dispatched…from Annan!
Fair enough that was only about an hour away but imagine if something went down in Seaton (■■■■■■■■ and it got sent to Devon!
Do firemen night out?

so what was the acceleration,0 to 60 in an hour[LOL]
Interesting the contradictions you see on trucknet,
On one thread posters are complaining that the reason that truck drivers get such a raw deal is because we don’t stick together.
On this thread posters are saying they’d cross a picket line of a group of workers who can stick together to protect thier working conditions.
Of course the fire service is vial in saving life and therefore lives could be put at risk if they strike. But the same could be said if road transport were to totally stop.
And what hasn’t been discussed here is why they are threatening industrial action.
Is it to protect their jobs or is it to protect threats to the level of service provided, so when you need the fire service they have the level of cover to respond to your emergency?
Or is it really the same thing. Fewer fire personal means people out of work and less emergency cover for us?
