I failed class one first time as well, I stopped in that stupid reversing bit ok & then reversed another few inches as I thought I needed to & he failed me for it. Seems pretty stupid to me but hey ho they gotta tick a box I suppose.
Sounds like that was good grounds for a appeal.
Don’t see where you went wrong there at all. Its not like the wheels have to keep moving during the reverse and you’re allowed to get out the cab and check, then reverse back a notch if you think you need to plus you can pull forward and reverse back again with in the parameters if you make a mess the 1st time, iirc once.
Apparently if you back even an inch too far on the reverse it’s an automatic fail, bit silly really as most reverse will be on to a loading bay which you have to touch & you wouldn’t reverse that close to another vehicle anyway.

I also only passed 16mths ago and passed class 2 first time failed class 1 first time. Chin up. Good to have your licence anyway. You will get a job just be persistant and come next year there will be a shed load of jobs as all the “I aint doing no cpc crap” brigade wont have a job.

i passed my test first time because i am so perfect[ONLY JOKING]actually passed second time,the first time everything went smoothly for a week and on test day a bloody double deck bus came the other way and as i moved over the nearside mirror hit a tree branch and smacked against the window forcing the examiner to duck towards me,not good,anybody who done their test around the woking, surrey area will know what it was like,all country lanes mostly
Thought I had being doing something wrong for years are I’ve never shook me handle (well not in public anyway), although since getting back and everythings air suspension I do tend to lift the trailer when going under and shoving me torch in the jaws to double check.
Thinking about it last thing I want to do is start yanking away at it suppose a little wiggle won’t hurt though.
think you will find most on here took a second bite but most wont admit it , if your still trying to pass after about 5 goes maybe then think of a plan b …

Wow, I never knew I was a terrible driver because I passed my class 1 1st time with very few minors… You’re wasting time & money nowadays taking your hgv but hey, it’s your money & your problem, good luck…
I wish all the haters would get out the haulage industry if they don’t like it and let the real drivers have there jobs…

Shake the handle from side to side , making sure the dog clip is secure visually also cheers m8.
You mean, you actually have to physically drop then pick up a trailer these days?? What a carry on!!
Yer m8 you must drop the trailer and parallel park the unit next to it ,and then reconnect all in the proper sequence , and all the safety checks .
Thx for the encouragement guys , I can see that most take a couple of bites to get through the class 1 ,as you can see from my previous posts I have a job ,this is a personal ambition to have a class 1 licence and would like to do a bit of truck driving before I retire, as I’ve just turned 50 can’t wait to long hopefully get through Thursday first then take stock cheers guys.
Can change title to passed C+E , over the moon, after all the drama last week with failure got the holy grail today and finally made it to my goal , I know it doesn’t mean anything to anyone else but I’m absolutely ecstatic especially at 50yr old ( a young 50 mind ) thanks for all the encouragement people cheers .
