F88

Thank you. This Lorry is from its working days and the tank behind the driving wheels is used to sand on the winter. The driver filled it with sand and perhaps little salt. Yes it is really a Lorry as is is missing.

Very interesting, you can see an outlet just forward of the outer drive axle wheel!!

I must say that it’s without doubt the best looking early F88 pic I’ve ever seen and it’s now the screen saver on my computer, thanks again Lars-Gunnar.

Ross.

edit, in larger format you can see the outlet in front of the inner wheel as well.

Hi All,

A couple of pictures of the model i have had made for my father of the F88 he drove up until around 2001 for Wyatt International of Snetterton Norfolk, It had been converted in to a six wheel unit when it was a few years old and in more recent years had the cable operated splitter removed and replaced with a air assisted one from a f10 and regulally ran to spain with underground fuel storage tanks only a couple of years before she was retired, I will try and dig out some pictures of the lorry and post on here in the next few days.

Couple of pictures of the F88’s they had. Two daycabs and two six wheelers.

Well, i certainly dont remember those!!. I know they had a few odds & sods, Bedford TMs, Sedd/Atki 400s even a Leyland Roadtrain but cant recall any F88s. Live & learn. They look nice though dont they?.

They had some oddballs in there time Mark a maggie 310 FL10 F7s a White long nose Macks and left ■■■■■■ full speck Scanias from the middle east depot and a list of contract painted vehicles from most shipping lines

hi i wonder if anyone has any old photos of Denis Oates Cornwall F88s thanks

Yes I have I love his fleet and and remember them from the 60s with his mandators and f86s I will put some up if Marcus is in reading he might beat me to it

How did the Mandators compare to the F86s pulling wise i know the 760 was much bigger but didnt produce much more power than the 86s then again it was hampered with a 6 speed box

Don’t know about the Mandators but the F86’s of Oldhams of Barford couldn’t live with my 220 roller Atki, especially going up Warmington hill on the old A41.

Is Warmington Hill the one with the water tower (or big building of some sort) on the right half way up?

Ross.

Warmington hill has a church half way up on the left, Starts with a right hand bend with a left turn in to the village, then a left hand bend where it opens up to dual carriageway going up the way, with a right turn to Edgehill at the top

Hiya…wow i’d forgotten about that hill between Gaydon and Banbury…there was a few skidmarks on that stretch of road…
it was’nt stopping marks it was trying to get traction up the hill… that must have done a few halfshafts in its time.
good old days
John

i took these at Truckfest, no idea what year thou…

I’ve put this photo up somewhere before but shows a nice F88 in 1972. I believe this is the Version 1 F88 ?
