Feenix:
You know who Ron Haslam is ■■

A very fast pair of sideboards on two wheels?

Never met anyone famous whilst trucking. But quite a few when I was a taxi driver and motorcycle courier.

gareth hunt on sommesous services,
a nice bloke, who seemed really surprised to be recognised by a bunch of uk drivers weekended there, he chatted for a while and then asked for privacy while they went to eat.
privacy duly respected he and his family came back and chatted with us for a good hour, he even seemed well happy tooting his horn heading out of sommesous with a dozen uk drivers saluting him with his trademark coffee bean shake.

this wasnt from driving but when i did security work at festivals etc (yes it was a rubbish job)

i was round where the tour buses were parked and some tall guy and his huge minders came round the corner playing wtih their american football and it proceeded to hit me in the back of the head…

none other than snoop dogg lol, hes a tall tall man.
im like 5ft 11 and i had to break my neck to look up at him and his minders lol.

david soul has shopped in the supermarket i work for as does andrew lloyd webbers house keeper :open_mouth:

Gave a lift to Mick Hucknall in France along time ago he had broken down.
I was in Hospital (Woolich) with Simon Weston…agree with Gibsla
Also went on the ■■■■■ with Jim Davidson when he came down to Punta Gorda…you will have to of been there to know where it is…He has even used the events of the evening in one of his shows   :sunglasses:

I now have Amanda Meiling(connie in casulty) as my neighbour, play rugby with her husband, he’s a big boy and she’s very tiny…Both are really nice also met Paul o’grady at her house and he is the same off tv as on!!! Barking mad.

I used to deliver exotic motors to the Top Gear set at Dunsfold.

Got to know most of The Stig’s quite well !

did abit for transam in 2006, doing the stones tour.

saw them a fair bit, and others i saw during the tour, simple minds, athlete, dandy warhols and razor light. had a cuppa with the drummer from razor light, andy, nice lad. also saw steve mclaren, and demi moore at different backstage areas.

did an elton john show in switzerland, had dinner with his band, great lads.

also got too do my fave band, the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, which was a massive deal for me, saw all the band at various times in catering and backstage, then in copenhagen, the sound engineer, (whos mates with the band) introduced me too the drummer, chad smith, real nice guy, had a beer with him, and hung out in the dressing room with him for 20 minutes, got a photo with him, and he gave me a set of signed drumsticks, and some signed albums from the band :sunglasses:

Being in the removals game you get to see a few people not necassarily celebrities but people who you have heard of.

I moved Matt Le Tissier, a former footballer a couple of years ago. I have moved Trinny, out of Trinny and Susanah, the 2 birds who like to strip women off and tell them how to dress!!

We do a lot of work for the old Kenco coffee advert lady, whos name is Betina Kunzl.

We also move the Dire Straits bass player John Illsley, he is a really nice bloke.

Others than are not famous but are in the industry include the owner of MCD car transporters. Took a truckload to Cheshire and another truckload to Portugal. Also moved one of the past presidents of Volvo Trucks back to Sweden last year. He had 2 45’ trailers stuffed but again was a really nice bloke. Job was a pain in the arse cos we could only get a luton transit in the collection address and ended up transhipping the entire job which took bloody ages!!

Clarkson in the airport queue at Malpensa - same off TV as on
Edwina Currie - at a Lady Truckers do. Hate her politics -but she was surprisingly well informed and unpatronising
The late Anita Roddick of Body Shop fame - human dynamo
Anneka Rice - on a relief convoy to Croatia - a consumate cow
Vinnie Jones - muppet
Ricky Tomlinson at Truckfest. One of the few really genuine celbs. When his PR started tapping theirr watch told them to go way and pointed out people had come miles to see him and deserved a fair crack. Top fella.

off loading cages at brighton train station years ago and willie rushton (god rest him) threatened to push me under a train if i let on he was hiding behind my wagon!!! v. funny and friendly guy.

I was privileged to work with Madiba (Nelson Mandela) and his security advisor’s when I was in the South African security services mostly for his public appearances in South Africa. Most of the planning for the various engagements were done months in advance. A true gentleman with no airs and graces. :sunglasses:

In 1985, whilst delivering a load of Red Stripe to Fullers’ Brewery in
Chiswick, I met Peter Bowles who was filming an episode of Lyttons
Diary by the thames just behind the brewery. Really nice guy, he shook
my hand and passed the time of day. :astonished:

jammymutt:
I pulled up outside that Scottish guy from Dragons Den and stopped ion his house one night.

I was in Hospital (Woolich) with Simon Weston…agree with Gibsla

Was at an airborne forces reunion couple of years back with a guy called Nobby Clark, who lost his leg in motar attack in the falklands, saw Simon Weston talking to some ruperts, Nobby shouts over to him “Hey Simon were your ears burning!! We were just talking about you” Airborne humour

Not while trucking,

Ron Atkinson at Teneride airport.
Sarah Harding in Wilmslow scrounging drinks off everyone.
Rio Ferdinand outside Costa in Alderley Edge, he was asking me about my Vespa and being sound, then I asked him to play crap the following week as it was the Derby
See Paul Scholes most weeks as he does the school run, I used to play football with him as a kid.
Met Fred Talbot having a cheeky cigarette while I was delivering to Granada Studio’s, also saw Gail Tildsley (she is as ugly in real life) and Ken Barlow there.

Delivered Fish to Stuart Halls house, one xmas doing a delivery his garage was rammed with beer, he told me to hold on a minute while I got me something for xmas, So I am expecting some beer or a nice tip, oh no …

… ‘Its a knockout greatest hits’ on video  Didnt know whether to laugh or slap him

Don’t know (for definate) who the current ones are as I’ve not been there for the last 2 series. The earlier ones names are all well known to be linked to ‘The Stig’ but you’d be hard pressed to get anything confirmed untill Top Gear reveals them & holds a reunion or such like.

It’s not top secret & there was nothing to sign or any official mention about not revealing identities, it’s just part of the lore that surrounds the production.

AIUI it was always intended to keep ‘The Stig’ anonymous so they could pick from whoever’s available to suit filming schedules.
